Job Overview

The ideal candidate is a strong communicator with experience managing public relations initiatives, responding to media inquiries, building relationships with government stakeholders, and developing communication strategies that support business objectives. This position will also provide leadership to a growing communications team as the department expands.

Job Description

Develop and execute the company's internal and external communications strategy.
Serve as the primary company spokesperson for media inquiries and coordinate responses to news agencies.
Build and maintain relationships with local, regional, and national media outlets.
Draft press releases, media statements, speeches, executive communications, and other public-facing materials.
Monitor media coverage and manage the company's public image and reputation.
Lead government affairs initiatives by building and maintaining relationships with government officials, municipalities, and regulatory stakeholders.
Support investor relations by preparing communications and assisting with messaging for investors and key stakeholders.
Coordinate crisis communications and develop response strategies when necessary.
Collaborate with executive leadership to ensure consistent messaging across all communication channels.
Manage and oversee external communications, branding, and public relations campaigns.
Monitor communication trends and recommend strategies to increase brand awareness and community engagement.
Manage and mentor the communications team as the department continues to grow.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Political Science, or a related field preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in communications, public relations, corporate communications, government affairs, or a related field.
Experience working with media outlets and responding to press inquiries.
Knowledge of government relations and public affairs.
Experience supporting investor communications is preferred.
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Strong public speaking and presentation abilities.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and communication platforms.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience serving as a company spokesperson.
Experience in crisis communications or reputation management.
Experience managing or leading communications projects or teams.
Familiarity with regulated industries, transportation, environmental services, or public sector organizations is a plus.

Pay: From $80,000.00 per year
