Full-Time - Temp to Perm

The Role

We're looking for an experienced Payroll Lead to join a growing organization with complex, multi-state payroll operations. This role is responsible for ensuring payroll is processed accurately and on time while supporting compliance, reporting, and continuous process improvement.

Working closely with the payroll team, you'll serve as a subject matter expert for payroll administration, employee inquiries, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate enjoys solving problems, improving processes, and delivering exceptional service in a fast-paced environment.

What a Day is Like

The Payroll Lead ensures the integrity and timeliness of our payroll to sustain our employee satisfaction, accountability, and overall growth of the company. This role is responsible for working in conjunction with the Payroll Specialists in all facets of payroll and reporting as well as acting as a subject matter advisor to all employee inquiries regarding payroll and compliance.

Essential Functions of the Role

Process and administer all facets of multi-state US and Canadian weekly and biweekly payroll for 40+ states (and growing) using UKG
Generate and develop management and payroll-related reports using UKG BI and Excel
Process all mandatory and voluntary deductions including 401(k), flexible spending, garnishments etc.
Process prevailing wage for certified payroll and coefficient overtime
Research guidelines and regulations in operating states to ensure compliance, setup and register for business in new states, as it relates to payroll and taxing
Partner with the Payroll Specialists to identify opportunities for process improvement by eliminating non-value add activity and/or leveraging technology, analyze, and implement accordingly
Support all internal and external audits related to payroll
Oversee compliance with statutory reporting and filing requirements
Prepare and review payroll account reconciliations
Provide customer service in a timely manner to payroll inquiries from operating branches and employees
Additional responsibilities as necessary

Qualifications

College degree preferred and/or 5 to 7 years of related payroll experience
CPP or FPC Certification a plus
High proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
Knowledge of UKG and Kronos desired
Knowledge of Canadian Payroll, Tax Filing & Compliance, Prevailing Wage/Certified Payroll and Coefficient Overtime required
