Full Job Description

Job Title: PART TIME Phlebotomist

Job Description

The main function of a Phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations. This role requires expertise in blood draws, specimen labeling, and patient data updating.

Responsibilities

Perform blood draws, label specimens, and centrifuge specimens as required.
Record maintenance data and perform decontamination procedures.
Update patient information and ensure proper storage of specimens according to established procedures.
Explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collection methods clearly and courteously.
Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
Understand and follow all physician orders.
Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes accurately.
Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as necessary for test orders.
Verify test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy.
Package specimens for transport and store them at the required temperature.
Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
Attend annual department training sessions.
Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.

Essential Skills

Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment, where required.
Minimum of 2-4 years of work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab, clinic or hospital setting.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
High School Diploma or GED.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Phlebotomy - at least 1 year of verifiable experience.
Experience drawing on all age groups.

Work Environment

The work schedule is Monday to Saturday from 5 am to 9 am at an IOP Behavioral Health Center. You will work 4 hours a day, 6 days a week for a total of 24 hours a week and conduct 15-25 draws per day, working with patients aged 4-75. Although you will be drawing alone, you will work alongside nurses and other clinic staff.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Colorado Springs, CO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
