OUR VISION FOR THE MUSIC MINISTRY
The Anointed Church of Jesus Christ exists to lead people into a growing relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ and to strengthen the local church. We are a Spirit-filled congregation built on three values — Love, Grace, and Truth.
Our music ministry is not a performance. It is a ministry. Music in this house exists to usher the people of God into the presence of God, to prepare hearts to receive the preached Word, and to send the congregation out singing the truth they have just heard. Every note serves the Word, and every musician serves the people.
We are believing God for a music ministry that grows in two directions at once: upward in spiritual depth, and outward in skill. That requires someone who can develop people, not simply fill slots.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Director of Music Ministry leads, teaches, and develops the musicians and vocalists of The Anointed Church of Jesus Christ. This role carries the musical craft of the ministry — building the players, training the voices, and raising the standard of what is offered to the Lord in this house.
Please note: this is not the Worship Leader role. The Worship Leader carries the spiritual direction and flow of worship in the service. The Director of Music Ministry carries the musicianship, the instruction, the rehearsal, and the development of the team — and works closely alongside the Worship Leader, not over them. Both serve under the Senior Pastor.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Teach and Develop. Instruct musicians and vocalists in their instruments, voices, and musical understanding. Raise up new players and singers from within the congregation. Mentor, correct, and encourage.
- Lead the Musicians. Direct the instrumentalists and vocalists in rehearsal and in service. Set the musical arrangements, keys, transitions, and standards for the team.
- Rehearsals. Organize and lead consistent weekly praise and worship rehearsal. Come prepared, start on time, and hold the team to it.
- Music Selection and Charting. In partnership with the Senior Pastor and Worship Leader, select and chart music that aligns with the preached Word and the season of the house. Provide charts and materials to the team ahead of rehearsal.
- Weekly Communication. Communicate weekly with the music and worship team by email, text, and phone regarding songs, schedule, and expectations.
- Grow the Ministry. Actively recruit and build. Encourage congregational participation. Bring forward ideas that will strengthen the music and worship ministry of this church.
- Collaboration. Work closely with the Senior Pastor, the Worship Leader, and the Media Ministry on lyrics and service flow. Participate in the monthly leadership staff meetings. Assist the Pastor with music ministry projects as needed.
- Instruments and Equipment. Oversee the care and maintenance of the church's instruments and music equipment. Catalog and organize music resources.
- Special Services. Lead music for Sunday services, Christmas and Easter, the last Friday of each month, and weddings and funerals as requested.
- Spiritual Life. Model a growing walk with Christ, faithful attendance, and submission to the vision and leadership of this house.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A personal, growing relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, and agreement with the vision, mission, and values of this church.
- Proficiency in at least one instrument — piano, keyboard, guitar, bass, or acoustic drum set. This is required.
- Demonstrated ability to teach. It is not enough to play well; this role must be able to make others play well.
- Experience leading musicians and vocalists, and the maturity to lead volunteers with patience and firmness.
- Working knowledge of both traditional and contemporary gospel and Christian worship music.
- Ability to work collaboratively under pastoral authority and alongside the Worship Leader.
- A degree in music or worship studies is preferred but not required. Proven ability matters more than paper.
