Location: Lincoln, MA / Hanscom Air Force Base
Work Arrangement: Onsite / In-Office with limited remote flexibility
Compensation: $120,000 - $190,000 annually, based on experience, technical depth, and clearance status
Experience Level: Principal / Senior-Level
Citizenship Requirement: U.S. Citizen required
Security Clearance: Active DoD clearance strongly preferred. Must be capable of obtaining and maintaining a U.S. DoD security clearance within the first year of employment.
About the Opportunity
We are seeking a Principal Client Solutions Architect to serve as a senior client-facing technical leader supporting mission-focused cloud applications, digital engineering platforms, and Government technology initiatives.
This role sits at the intersection of customer requirements gathering, stakeholder management, cloud application architecture, solution design, and technical delivery. The successful candidate will work directly with Government clients, mission stakeholders, product teams, systems engineers, software engineers, UX teams, data teams, and technical leadership to translate complex customer needs into clear requirements, actionable solution designs, and scalable cloud-based application architectures.
The ideal candidate has strong experience facilitating client discovery, documenting requirements, managing stakeholder expectations, defining technical solution approaches, and guiding teams through the delivery of modern cloud applications.
This is an onsite position based in Lincoln, Massachusetts and requires regular in-person work, including work at Hanscom Air Force Base.
Key Responsibilities
Client Requirements Gathering & Stakeholder Engagement
- Lead client discovery sessions, stakeholder interviews, requirements workshops, and technical planning meetings
- Work directly with Government customers and mission users to understand operational needs, workflows, pain points, constraints, and desired outcomes
- Translate ambiguous customer needs into clear business, functional, technical, and architectural requirements
- Manage requirements throughout the product and solution lifecycle, including prioritization, refinement, change control, and traceability
- Develop strong working relationships with client stakeholders, technical teams, and leadership
- Communicate solution options, trade-offs, risks, dependencies, and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
Cloud Application Solution Architecture
- Design cloud-based application solutions aligned to customer requirements, mission needs, security expectations, and delivery constraints
- Define solution architectures for web applications, data-driven platforms, APIs, integration layers, dashboards, workflow tools, and decision-support systems
- Collaborate with engineering teams on architecture patterns, system components, application workflows, cloud services, and integration strategies
- Support architecture decisions related to scalability, reliability, maintainability, security, usability, and performance
- Produce architecture artifacts, solution briefs, technical diagrams, workflow models, interface definitions, and implementation guidance
- Help bridge the gap between customer requirements, product strategy, and engineering execution
Requirements Management & Delivery Support
- Create and maintain requirements documentation, user stories, acceptance criteria, use cases, workflow diagrams, feature definitions, and product backlogs
- Ensure requirements are clear, testable, traceable, and aligned with customer objectives
- Partner with product managers, QA engineers, systems engineers, and developers to validate requirements and support delivery execution
- Support sprint planning, backlog refinement, technical reviews, demonstrations, release planning, and user acceptance activities
- Track requirements through design, development, testing, deployment, and customer acceptance
- Identify gaps, risks, conflicts, or dependencies that may affect delivery success
Technical Leadership & Mentoring
- Serve as a principal-level advisor to customers and internal delivery teams
- Mentor business analysts, product owners, systems engineers, and technical team members on requirements discipline, client communication, and solution design
- Support best practices for requirements gathering, solution architecture, documentation, stakeholder alignment, and technical delivery
- Provide technical leadership during proposal efforts, solution shaping, customer briefings, and capability demonstrations
- Help improve internal delivery processes, architecture standards, and client-facing solution practices
Required Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Must be capable of obtaining and maintaining a U.S. DoD security clearance within the first year of employment
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, Business, or a related field
- 8+ years of experience in client solutions, solution architecture, product management, business analysis, systems engineering, software delivery, cloud applications, or technical consulting
- Strong experience gathering, documenting, managing, and validating customer requirements
- Experience working directly with clients, stakeholders, technical teams, and senior leadership
- Experience designing or supporting cloud-based application solutions
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycles, Agile delivery, application architecture, APIs, data flows, and system integrations
- Ability to translate customer needs into clear requirements, solution designs, technical documentation, user stories, and acceptance criteria
- Strong verbal, written, presentation, and facilitation skills
- Ability to lead workshops, briefings, technical discussions, and client-facing planning sessions
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities, requirements, stakeholders, and delivery timelines
- Ability and willingness to work onsite in Lincoln, MA and support work at Hanscom Air Force Base
Preferred Experience
- Active DoD clearance
- Experience working on Government, defense, aerospace, national security, or mission-focused technology programs
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GovCloud environments
- Experience designing cloud applications, data platforms, workflow applications, APIs, dashboards, or decision-support tools
- Experience with Agile/Scrum delivery environments
- Experience with tools such as Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, GitHub, Miro, Figma, Visio, Lucidchart, or similar platforms
- Experience with requirements traceability, user acceptance testing, verification and validation, or release readiness
- Familiarity with MBSE, digital engineering, systems architecture, SysML, UML, or architecture modeling concepts
- Experience supporting proposal development, solution narratives, technical assessments, or customer value propositions
Additional Beneficial Experience
- Experience with application modernization, cloud migration, DevSecOps, CI/CD, containerized applications, or secure cloud environments
- Familiarity with APIs, SQL, Python, JavaScript, XML, XSD, JSON, or data integration concepts
- Experience supporting AI-enabled applications, analytics platforms, knowledge management tools, automation, or data-driven decision-support systems
- Experience preparing architecture diagrams, product documentation, implementation plans, technical guides, or training materials
- Experience mentoring teams or establishing requirements and architecture best practices
- Ability to apply commercial solution architecture experience to military, defense, or Government technology environments
