What You'll Do
As our Chemical Technical Specialist, you'll serve as a trusted technical expert supporting industrial wastewater treatment operations nationwide. You'll play a key role in developing and optimizing chemical treatment programs, improving system performance, and helping clients meet operational and compliance goals.
Technical Leadership & Strategy
- Provide technical leadership and guidance for wastewater treatment operations across multiple client facilities throughout the United States.
- Develop and implement chemical treatment strategies that align with customer operational needs and production schedules.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for wastewater treatment systems, pretreatment processes, and chemical applications.
- Identify opportunities to improve treatment efficiency, compliance performance, and operational reliability.
- Partner with chemical manufacturers and suppliers to maximize chemical effectiveness and cost efficiency.
Operations & Process Support
- Support operators, engineers, and plant personnel in maintaining stable treatment performance under changing conditions.
- Develop operating procedures, process controls, and performance metrics.
- Lead root-cause investigations for treatment upsets, performance issues, and permit exceedances.
- Collaborate with operations, maintenance, environmental, health, and safety teams to ensure uninterrupted plant performance.
Engineering & Program Development
- Support the design, expansion, retrofit, startup, and commissioning of wastewater treatment chemical systems.
- Optimize chemical programs for biological treatment systems, membrane technologies, solids handling processes, and related operations.
- Evaluate treatment systems and recommend improvements that drive measurable value for clients.
- Provide technical expertise during proposals, assessments, and customer presentations.
Chemical Program Management
- Oversee chemical selection, dosing strategies, and supplier performance.
- Manage and grow chemical supply and service programs.
- Monitor performance data and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Prepare technical reports and recommendations for customers and leadership teams.
Business & Customer Support
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cost-control initiatives.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, vendors, and contractors.
- Communicate technical findings and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Partner closely with procurement, site leadership, and operations teams to prioritize customer needs and support business growth.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in chemical treatment, wastewater treatment, or a related industry.
- Experience with SCADA systems or similar monitoring platforms.
- Knowledge of industrial wastewater equipment, including:
- Chemical feed systems
- Pumps
- Membrane technologies
- Biological treatment systems
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Ability to create professional reports and analyze operational data.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel extensively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Wastewater treatment licensure or certification in an applicable state.
- Experience supporting industrial wastewater operations in food processing, dairy, rendering, or manufacturing environments.

Work Environment
- Frequent travel (50–75%) to customer locations throughout the United States.
- Work in industrial environments and wastewater treatment facilities.
- Must be comfortable wearing required PPE and working in varying plant and weather conditions.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Compensation & Benefits
Compensation Range: $75,000 – $90,000 annually
