Full Job Description

Mechanical Engineering Assistant (Full-Time, Permanent)

Arcadia Test, Inc. | Fremont, CA

Arcadia Test designs and manufactures high-precision test fixtures and automated test equipment for the aerospace, automotive, medical, and electronics industries. We’re looking for a motivated, detail-oriented Engineering Assistant to support the development, prototyping, and production of custom mechanical test solutions.

This is a hands-on, entry-level role with on-the-job training. You’ll work with experienced designers and machinists while learning SolidWorks and engineering documentation in a manufacturing environment.

What You’ll Do

Assist with creating accurate 2D drawings and 3D models in SolidWorks for prototype and production test fixtures.
Generate drawing packages and support revision control and configuration management.
Perform hands-on assembly and functional verification of fixtures and subassemblies.
Collaborate with designers, machinists, and quality team members daily.
Help source mechanical and electronic components for projects.
Follow checklists, processes, and engineering standards to maintain quality.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone eager to learn who also brings good work habits:

Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate, high-quality work.
Able to follow written and verbal instructions precisely and use checklists effectively.
Comfortable asking, clarifying questions and confirming understanding before starting tasks.
Reliable and organized — takes ownership of work and follows through with minimal supervision.
Genuine mechanical aptitude or hands-on interest (building, fixing, tinkering, personal projects, etc.).
Positive attitude and willingness to accept feedback and improve.

Requirements

Prior work experience in any field.
Basic computer skills and willingness to learn new software.
Good English communication skills, both verbal and written (Spanish is a plus).
Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs, sit, stand, bend, and kneel as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in a manufacturing or hands-on technical environment.
0–1+ years of SolidWorks or CAD drafting experience (personal or school projects count).
Experience sourcing parts or working with bills of materials.
Basic proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
