Colby-Sawyer College is expanding its academic portfolio by adding a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies program and seeking applications for a Medical Director. Establishing a master’s level PA program strengthens Colby-Sawyer’s position as a regional leader in health sciences, expanding on its strong nursing and allied-health programs while fulfilling the strategic commitment to offer graduate education that is committed to building a workforce focused on community needs. Colby-Sawyer has a longstanding and established partnership as a preferred partner with Dartmouth Health, New Hampshire’s only academic health system. In addition, the Janet Udall Schaefer ‘52 Center for Health Sciences, newly opened in 2024, is a dynamic hub for academic and clinical training in nursing and health sciences. This next-generation center is equipped with the latest hospital-grade instruments and devices in a four-room simulation center, three clinical exam rooms, two skills laboratories, and two anatomy and physiology labs. The Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant, Inc. (ARC-PA) has approved our application request for entry into provisional accreditation status.
Summary
The Master of Physician Assistant Medical Director is responsible for providing oversight and support through the ongoing process of attaining ARC-PA provisional accreditation status and eventual full accreditation at Colby-Sawyer. Reporting to the Program Director, the Medical Director serves as a key member of the principal faculty, providing expertise in clinical medicine to the program. The responsibilities of the Medical Director include effectively advocating for the PA program through active participation in the program and support of the development and review of the program curriculum and competencies to meet current practice standards as they relate to the PA role. (ARC- PA Standards, 6 th Edition A2.12).

This role is a hybrid, part-time exempt position, paid with a stipend.
Essential Job Functions:
· Support compliance with ARC-PA Standards through participation in program evaluation, Self-Study Report (SSR) review, and accreditation preparation activities.
· Provide input into the development, review, and implementation of program policies and procedures.
· Provide advice and oversight regarding the medical accuracy of the curriculum and the quality of clinical experiences available to students.
· Provide clinical guidance and collaborate with the Program Director and faculty through regular consultation, participation in program committees, and engagement in program planning and continuous improvement initiatives.
· Advocate for the Colby-Sawyer physician assistant program within the medical and academic communities.
· Currently or previously licensed PA or osteopathic or allopathic physician
· Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience
· Knowledgeable about the PA role and have experience with the PA scope of practice
· Previous experience, knowledge, and expertise in PA program administration and the ARC-PA accreditation process.
· Previous experience in curriculum development and program assessment
· Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders and cooperatively with administration, faculty, and staff.
