Job Title: Program Director

Status: Full-Time

Job Location: New York, NY (multiple locations)

About Us:

Columba Services Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping individuals who have struggled with homelessness. Many of our residents have experienced significant trauma in their lives and are struggling with mental illness and/or substance abuse. We provide a safe and stable environment for all individuals we serve while treating them with Respect and Dignity.

Objective:

Under the supervision of the Deputy Chief Program Officer, the Program Director will assume overall management responsibility for programs to ensure compliance with internal and external stakeholders. The Program Director will also ensure the provision of high service delivery that meets the needs of our residents with compassion, respect and dignity.

The successful candidate should display outstanding leadership, supervisory and communication skills. They must also have experience working with the homeless population and with people who are struggling with severe mental illness and substance abuse. The ability to manage multiple programs, meet deadlines, multi-task and build teams, are essential skills for this position.

Essential Functions:

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
Establish quality and performance measures that meets and exceeds requirements of stakeholders.
Ensure that Evidence Based Practices are utilized throughout service delivery to residents.
Ensure that the program is in full compliance with agency standards and external stakeholders’ regulations.
Assist in hiring, orienting, evaluating and disciplining all program staff.
Conduct supervision and staff meetings regularly and submit documentation to the DCPO.
Identify staff training needs and offer or coordinate instruction.
Oversee Intake process and ensure mandated occupancy levels.
Review all incidents and coordinate Incident Review Committee meetings.
Establish enhanced outreach and engagement practices with community-based service providers.
Conduct monthly review of program data and communicate findings with DCPO.
Make program and administrative recommendations to DCPO.
Attend, participate and report on meetings hosted by stakeholders.
Write reports and respond to correspondences in a timely and thorough manner.
Be available for on-call emergencies.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education and Qualifications:

Commitment and understanding of the mission, history, and values of the organization
Master’s Degree in Social Work or related degree with five (5) plus years of progressive experience working with homeless population and management of staff required
LCSW strongly preferred
Strong leadership and effective management skills
Strong social and emotional intelligence skills
Strong analytic, organizational and problem-solving skills
Experience with program development and evaluation
Knowledge of and experience working in Supportive Housing
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to develop collaborative relationships with stakeholders
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
Bilingual (Spanish) strongly preferred

Working Conditions:

Must be able to sit, stand and walk around frequently for up to 8 hours per day in a busy environment. Be able to perform with numerous interruptions and be able to withstand the pressure of time and responsibility. Deal with a variety of personalities in a professional manner, utilizing emotional intelligence.
