Full Job Description

PROJECT ENGINEER POSITION:

Assist Estimating:

Provide and assist all necessary steps to prepare complete and accurate estimates for bid pursuits.

1. Assist in coordinating bid pursuits, bid invites, bid calendar, downloading bid documents from site, GC’s, or entities, etc. to bid folders.

2. Review bid specifications, drawings, HAZ reports, soils reports and existing bid docs to assist estimator better determine scope of work.

3. Perform quantity take offs for bid. (On-screen take off, Blue Beam, or similar).

4. Assist estimator in preparing bid documentation required for submission of bid (Bid Sheets, FDI proposal for scope, conditions, exclusions and completion of GC or entities bid forms).

5. Attend pre bid job walks as needed.

6. Assist estimators in performing estimating functions (calling subs, enter bid items, preparation of bids, etc.)

7. Requests of bid bonds from surety.

8. Run bids when necessary.

Assist Project Management:

Provide and assist project administration and documentation.

1. Creating a new contract folder with new job # with all relative contract and bid docs once awarded.

2. Preparing project start form for all specific project requirements.

3. Project submittals procurement and submission (I.I.P.P., S.S.S.P., SDS and all spec sheets, Supers STSC Card, Comp Person Letter, Silica Exposure Plan, Respiratory Program, Heat & Illness Prevention Plan, Project AHA, Demolition Work Plans, HAZ Abatement Work Plans.

4. Assist in reviewing contracts for correct dollar value, scope, conditions, exclusions, etc. for final execution.

5. Track and project cost reports and recaps.

6. Develop, update and maintain project schedule.

7. Track quantities vs bid quantities.

8. Track daily cost vs. project budgets.

9. Track project RFI, RFC, Addendums, etc.

10. Review and monitor project accounts payable, subcontracts/vendors, etc.

11. Notification of unforeseen conditions and potential change orders.

12. Assist in preparing change orders with all back up for submission to client.

13. Assist in preparing monthly project billings including submission of project billing on time per billing due date by contractor/project requirements.

Qualifications and Experience:

Educational and experience requirements include: 4-year engineering or construction management degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and related construction experience. Strong background in writing, presentation, and computer skills. Working knowledge of various construction disciplines, cost control, contract administration, scheduling, safety regulations and the ability to understand drawings and specifications.
