Full Job Description

1099 Rebuild Estimate Writer — Restoration (Part-Time / Flexible)

Job Type: Independent Contractor (1099), Part-Time

Pay: $50 per estimate (5 rooms or fewer) / $100 per estimate (more than 5 rooms)

Location: Remote

Schedule:Flexible — work around your own schedule - small estimates must be written within 24 hours of submission of job scope, larger estimates must be written within 48 hours of submission of job scope.

About the Role

We're a restoration company looking for a detail-oriented estimate writer to join our team on a part-time, per-project basis, focused specifically on the rebuild/reconstruction side of our jobs. Your job is to take their documentation (sketch and scope of repairs needed) and turn it into an accurate, professional rebuild estimate covering the repair and reconstruction work. This is flexible, remote-friendly work — great for an experienced estimator who wants project-based income without a full-time commitment.

What You'll Do

Review field documentation (photos, scope notes, room measurements) provided by our team once mitigation/drying is complete
Write detailed, accurate rebuild estimates in Xactimate — drywall, flooring, paint, trim, cabinetry, doors, insulation, and other repair/reconstruction line items
Apply correct quantities, unit pricing, and code-required items (e.g., matching, painting full walls/rooms where required) for each scope
Turn around estimates within [24–48 hours] of receiving job documentation
Flag any missing information, scope gaps, or unclear repair items before finalizing an estimate
Communicate professionally with our team regarding revisions or supplements

Pay Structure

$50 per estimate — jobs covering 5 rooms or fewer
$100 per estimate — jobs covering more than 5 rooms
Paid per completed, submitted estimate (1099 contractor — no taxes withheld)
Paid weekly every Friday

What We're Looking For

Experience writing rebuild/reconstruction estimates (Xactimate proficiency required/preferred)
Strong understanding of repair scopes — drywall, paint, flooring, trim, cabinetry, doors/windows, insulation — and current construction pricing
Comfortable working independently and meeting turnaround deadlines
Reliable internet access and your own computer/software license
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
IICRC Xactimate certification a plus
