Events and Marketing Manager

About MIDA:

MIDA, by Chef Douglass Williams and Seth Gerber, debuted its South End location in November 2016 with the sole focus of becoming a great Italian neighborhood restaurant. The menu revolves around playful interpretations of classic regional Italian cuisine. Our goal is to execute staple dishes from different regions of Italy using the highest quality ingredients and an extreme attention to detail – all while making the food fun and approachable.

Since opening MIDA, Chef Douglass Williams has been recognized by Food & Wine Magazine as one of the “Best New Chefs” in the country as well as a James Beard Award Semi-Finalist for “Outstanding Chef” with Seth and Douglass nominated as Semi-Finalist for “Best Restauranteur”. Chef Williams has also become a vocal advocate for the importance of embracing diversity and community within our industry.

About the Role:

At MIDA, we want to create hospitality and generosity for ourselves so we can share it with our guests and ultimately, the larger community. The Events and Catering Manager is responsible for overseeing all activities pertaining to event planning and catering. This includes, but not limited to, spearheading lead response and guest communication for all inquiries, detailed execution of operational pre-planning steps, communicating BEO details to all locations, maintain guest facing collateral (menus, brochures, or other materials), leading service as needed to support events.

Reports To: Nicole Dicks - Senior Catering and Sales Manager,

Read & respond to leads in Tripleseat for in-house private events and catering inquiries
Navigate the planning process to ensure excellent guest experience as well as maximize sales with private events
Prepare menus, tent cards, or facilitate other custom event content for guests
Assist with execution of daytime catering orders – double-checking the BEO with BOH before handing off to driver, making sure everything is labeled and order is complete with marketing and service materials
Perform basic restaurant opening tasks and provide oversight of dining room for lunch service
Work with Catering Sales and Events Manager on more involved partial or full buyout requests
Update prix-fixe menus in Canva, In Design, and Tripleseat, based on seasonal changes
Maintain photo library for each location for guest inquiries
Manage Events email general inbox
Assist in leading projects to implement and improve automation within the events and catering program
Full awareness of the weekly events happening at MIDA, both catering and in-house
Go over each BEO in detail with FOH and BOH teams for each location in weekly manager meetings
Update managers through appropriate communication channels including email, Tripleseat, and Slack
Assist with any special tasks for upcoming events when necessary, such as gift bags, rentals, etc.
Other duties as assigned
Coordinate with the Executive Team to proactively market upcoming events
Manage General Information email inbox for the company
Help identify and pursue novel marketing strategies in partnership with the Executive Team including attending local tasting events, creating marketing material through Canva & Klaviyo, and calling potential leads
Maintain accurate website information including menu updates and policy changes
Upkeep of GoogleMyBusiness profile via Checkle Platform and other relevant SEO sources
Prior event planning experience with focus high end service
Prior restaurant experience managing, or with a strong competence to learn, fundamentals of service management
Prior experience with restaurant CRM for event planning such as Tripleseat or similar platforms
Experience in basic graphic design and capable of creating a variety of visual content, including menus, collateral, and other marketing materials using Canva and In Design.
Strong competence managing independent projects to implement new software platforms pertaining to streamlined event and catering sales and operations.
Strong interpersonal & hospitality skills
Excellent organizational skills
Highly responsive communication via email, text, or other channels
Ability to anticipate guest needs
Result-driven, with a proven ability to be a self-starter
Passion to learn about and integrate hospitality, food and beverage pertaining to MIDA brands and daily operations
Ability to stand for the entirety of an 8-hour shift, lift and transport items more than 50 lbs., kneel, bend over, lift items above head, work in small or cramped spaces
Full-Time, Primary 8 AM – 5 PM with some varying schedule depending on seasonal demand or special events with that would require availability on nights, weekends and holidays.
This is an onsite position with some flexibility for remote work following a satisfactory 90 day review. The successful candidate will be expected to be onsite for catering orders, events, meetings, or other business needs
