Passionate About Literacy for All Children?
Ready to Make a Difference in Your Community?
Our team is expanding! Augustine Literacy Project - Triangle has been serving students for more than 30 years. Our mission is to train, place, and support tutors at partner schools to deliver free, one-to-one, science-based literacy instruction to students who need additional support.
ALP’s programs are based on the Orton-Gillingham approach, which incorporates multisensory, direct, explicit, structured, and sequential reading instruction.
Student Success Coordinator (SSC) Position
Purpose
Support the implementation of literacy interventions by monitoring student progress as volunteer tutors deliver the ALP curriculum, while also ensuring smooth site operations.
About the Role
Currently, ALP Triangle is providing one-on-one literacy instruction for students who are a year or more behind in first- or second-grade assessment benchmarks in decoding, encoding, and basic phonological awareness, and who would not otherwise have access to 1-1 tutoring in foundational literacy skills. Our tutors provide free, long-term, one-on-one instruction using research-based methodology.
To ensure high-quality tutoring sessions and a positive experience for volunteers and school staff, ALP provides a Student Success Coordinator for each school site. The Student Success Coordinator is present at their assigned school(s) during tutoring sessions and monitors tutor-student interactions.
The coordinator also serves as ALP's liaison to the school, streamlining communication with teachers and managing volunteers.
Full training is provided on our curriculum and the digital platform we use!
Hours, Location & Pay
- Hours: 6–10 hours per week, per school site
- Schedule: Fixed and consistent week to week. Once your school site assignment and tutoring days/times are set, they remain the same throughout the term, making it easier to plan around other commitments. Most tutoring sessions during the 26-27 school year will occur in the late mornings/early afternoons. Tutoring cohorts meet in person at the designated school site for one hour, twice per week. The SSC is expected to be at the site one hour before, during, and one hour after tutoring.
- Location: Hybrid. Most work is in person at the assigned school site(s), with the remaining hours (meetings, scheduling, communications, administrative work) completed remotely.
- Pay: $25/hour (part-time, hourly position)
- Growth opportunity: As ALP Triangle grows, there is potential for increased hours, expanded responsibilities, and pay growth for coordinators who demonstrate strong performance and readiness for additional responsibilities.
