Job Summary
We are seeking an energetic and highly experienced Senior Construction Project Manager to lead and oversee complex infrastructure and commercial construction projects from inception to completion. In this pivotal role, you will coordinate project teams, manage budgets, ensure regulatory compliance, and deliver projects on time and within scope. Your leadership will drive project success by applying your extensive construction management expertise, advanced scheduling skills, and proficiency with industry-standard software. Responsibilities
- Lead assigned projects from contract award through final payment and closeout, ensuring that scope, schedule, cost, quality and safety requirements are satisfied.
- Serve as Laydon's primary point of contact with owners, municipalities, CT DOT, public agencies, engineers, construction managers and other project stakeholders.
- Lead project progress meetings every two weeks and other required owner, agency and internal coordination meetings; establish action items and follow them through completion.
- Coordinate routinely with the General Superintendent and project superintendents regarding crew schedules, sequencing, labor, equipment, materials, subcontractors and changing field conditions.
- Develop and maintain project work plans, near term schedules, milestone dates and resource forecasts; identify schedule conflicts and implement recovery measures when necessary.
- Monitor budgets, committed costs, labor and equipment performance, quantities, production, cash flow and forecasts; provide timely project status reporting to Laydon management.
- Prepare, review and submit payment requisitions, quantity documentation, cost plus records and other billing support; follow outstanding payments and resolve disputed quantities.
- Administer contract requirements and preserve Laydon's rights by providing required notices, maintaining records and addressing scope, delay, differing conditions and other project risks promptly.
- Prepare and manage RFIs, submittals, purchase orders, change orders, claims, proposals, correspondence, meeting documentation and other project controls.
- Identify, document, price and negotiate extra work and change orders, including labor, equipment, material, subcontractor and schedule impacts.
- Support the Chief Estimator with selected project estimates and assist with takeoffs, pricing and bid review when requested, while maintaining primary responsibility for assigned projects.
- Develop subcontractor scopes, obtain and evaluate proposals, coordinate subcontract agreements and monitor subcontractor scheduling, documentation, performance and payment requirements.
- Coordinate material approvals, certifications, purchasing and delivery dates with suppliers and field personnel.
- Manage public contract and subcontractor compliance, including certified payrolls, subcontractor approvals, New Haven CEO and SCD requirements, CT DOT records, insurance certificates, W-9 forms and bonds.
- Maintain assigned contractor qualification and compliance systems, including ISNetworld and Avetta, and coordinate required annual or project specific updates.
- Coordinate project survey, utility, design and third-party activities and ensure approved information is communicated to field personnel in a usable form.
- Manage punch lists and final closeout, including final quantities, material certifications, as built information, subcontractor payment verification and final project documentation.
- Supervise, assign and review the work of the Assistant Project Manager; provide training, feedback and increasing responsibility based on demonstrated ability.
- Review plans, specifications, contracts and field conditions for completeness, constructability, risk and conflicts; promptly elevate material issues to Laydon management.
- Coordinate Call Before You Dig tickets and required utility damage reporting for assigned projects, including PURA reporting when applicable.
- Visit jobsites regularly to verify progress, documentation, quality, coordination and compliance with Laydon and project safety requirements.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related field preferred. A comparable combination of technical training and substantial heavy civil construction experience will be considered.
- Project Management Professional (PMP), Engineer in Training (EIT) or related construction credential preferred but not required.
- Minimum eight (8) years of progressive construction experience, including at least five (5) years independently managing heavy civil, roadway, underground utility or comparable public works projects.
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple concurrent projects, project financial controls, subcontractors, change work and owner or agency relationships required.
- Experience with Connecticut municipal, CT DOT or public utility contracts strongly preferred.
Required Skills
- Strong leadership, delegation and coordination skills, including the ability to align office and field personnel across multiple projects.
- Advanced understanding of heavy civil construction methods, underground utilities, roadway work, materials, equipment, sequencing and risk management.
- Strong project cost control, forecasting, scheduling, quantity tracking, billing and change order skills.
- Ability to interpret and administer plans, specifications, contracts and public agency requirements.
- Strong negotiation, problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to represent Laydon professionally with clients, agencies and subcontractors.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and the ability to learn Laydon's estimating, accounting and project management systems.
- Excellent organization and follow through with the ability to manage competing deadlines.
- Valid driver's license required.

Working Conditions
- The work environment includes both office and active construction jobsites. Physical demands may include sitting, standing, walking on uneven surfaces, stooping, kneeling, bending, climbing, lifting, reaching, using standard office equipment and operating a motor vehicle. Regular travel to project locations is required. Required personal protective equipment must be worn while on jobsites.

Pay: $100,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
