Product Development Manager
Help Build the Future of Collectibles
BCW Supplies | Middletown, Indiana | Full-Time | On-Site
BCW is a privately owned manufacturer serving collectors, retailers, distributors, and hobby communities around the world.
We design, manufacture, and distribute the storage solutions and accessories that help collectors secure, organize, and protect what they value — across Comic Books, Sports Cards & Memorabilia, Tabletop Gaming, and Music Collectibles.
Recently recognized by the Purdue Manufacturing Extension Partnership as an Indiana Manufacturer of the Month, we are continuing to invest in our people, products, systems, and technology as we build the next stage of BCW.
We are looking for a Product Development Manager who can help us bring new products to market with clarity, urgency, and accountability. This is not a traditional project management role. It is an execution role and an ownership role — for someone who sees complexity, brings order to it, and gets products across the finish line.
WHY THIS ROLE EXISTS
Every successful product launch requires dozens of decisions across Product, Procurement, Quality, Operations, Marketing, Packaging, Design, Sales, and our overseas manufacturing partners. Someone has to make sure those decisions happen. That is this role.
Once a new product is approved, the Product Development Manager becomes the quarterback responsible for moving it from concept through development and into production. If a project stalls, communication breaks down, or something falls behind, you are the person who brings clarity, creates accountability, solves problems, and keeps everyone moving toward launch.
You will not own every decision. You will own making sure every decision gets made. Your success will not be measured by how busy you are — it will be measured by products successfully reaching customers.
HOW WE WORK
BCW runs on the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS®). That means clear ownership, direct communication, measurable outcomes, solving issues quickly, continuous improvement, and accountability at every level. EOS gives every seat on our Accountability Chart clarity around who owns what, what success looks like, and where issues get solved.
This role operates directly within that system. You will be expected to create clarity, raise issues early, drive accountability, and help make the new product development process more predictable and scalable. We do not believe in bureaucracy. We believe in ownership.
TECHNOLOGY MATTERS HERE
BCW is actively investing in AI, automation, and modern business tools to help our team work smarter and faster. We believe technology should eliminate busywork, not create it. You do not need to arrive as an AI expert — you do need to be curious, adaptable, and willing to learn. If you enjoy finding better ways to work and improving broken processes, you will fit in well here.
WHAT OWNERSHIP MEANS AT BCW
Ownership means following through, raising issues early, solving problems instead of assigning blame, respectfully holding teammates and leaders accountable when projects drift, and leaving systems better than you found them. We can teach products, systems, and tools. We have a much harder time teaching ownership, integrity, curiosity, and the confidence to earn trust. Those traits matter here.
WHAT YOU WILL OWN
Product Development Execution
You will own execution of the new product development process from approved concept through launch:
- Leading multiple new product launches at the same time
- Building project plans, timelines, and milestones — and keeping projects visible and moving
- Identifying risks before they become delays and driving projects across the finish line
- Making sure products are production-ready before launch, even when priorities compete
Manufacturing & Supplier Coordination
BCW works with overseas manufacturing partners to bring many of our products to market. You will help coordinate that development process:
- Working with overseas manufacturers throughout product development
- Managing samples, revisions, specifications, and approvals
- Coordinating production readiness and communicating expectations clearly
- Partnering with Procurement and Quality Control to manage risk, timing, and product standards
Experience with overseas manufacturers is strongly preferred; experience with manufacturers in Asia is a plus. We care more about demonstrated ownership, communication, and execution than an arbitrary number of years on a resume.
Cross-Functional Leadership
This role succeeds through influence, not formal authority. You will work across Product, Procurement, Quality Control, Operations, Marketing, Packaging, Design, Sales, and overseas manufacturing partners. You will need to build trust, keep people aligned, respectfully challenge assumptions, push for decisions, escalate when needed, and hold people accountable when projects are at risk. This role is not for someone who waits to be told what to do — it is for someone who sees what needs to happen and helps make it happen.
Systems & Process Improvement
BCW is building a more disciplined, scalable product development process, and you will help build the systems that support it:
- Maintaining visibility into every active product development project
- Using project management tools such as Asana
- Improving workflows, templates, communication, and documentation — reducing side-channel work
- Creating repeatable processes, using AI and technology where appropriate to improve speed and decisions
The goal is not process for the sake of process. The goal is systems that help good people do better work.
Launch Readiness
A product is not ready to launch just because the idea is good. You will help ensure all the major pieces are aligned before launch: final product readiness, sample and specification approval, Quality Control alignment, packaging and marketing asset readiness, inventory timing, and communication across internal teams. The right person balances speed-to-market with product quality, customer expectations, and business priorities.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE — YEAR ONE
- New products move through a clearer, more predictable development process
- Leadership has visibility into every active launch
- Project timelines are accurate, visible, and actively managed
- Cross-functional teams trust your communication and follow-through
- Overseas suppliers know who to contact and what is expected
- Fewer projects stall, drift, or require last-minute escalation
- Problems are solved before they impact customers, and products launch on time more consistently
- The product development process is better because you are in the seat
IS THIS YOU?
You will probably thrive here if you:
- Naturally take ownership and follow through relentlessly
- Enjoy solving difficult problems and organizing complexity
- Communicate clearly and can have uncomfortable conversations professionally
- Hold yourself and others accountable, and prefer action over excuses
- Are comfortable influencing people who do not report to you
- Can move forward without perfect information
- Are curious about AI, technology, and better ways to work
- Want to help build something, not just maintain something
This probably is not the right fit if you:
- Wait for direction before taking action
- Avoid difficult conversations
- Prefer strategy over execution
- Struggle to influence peers without authority
- Need perfect information before making decisions
- Believe “that is someone else’s job”
- Prefer maintaining existing systems over improving them
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Experience leading complex work involving physical products, manufacturing, operations, engineering, or cross-functional execution. Helpful backgrounds include product development, project execution, manufacturing coordination, supplier-facing work, managing samples and specifications, and building or improving systems and processes. Experience with consumer or enthusiast-driven products is preferred but not required; experience in collectibles — sports cards, TCG and tabletop gaming, comics, or music collectibles — is a plus. We care more about ownership, character, communication, problem-solving, and execution than checking every box on a resume.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This is an on-site role in Middletown, Indiana — this work is most effective alongside the teams building, reviewing, packaging, and launching products. That said, we operate like adults: when life happens, we are flexible. We care more about outcomes than watching where someone sits every hour of the day. Travel is minimal, with future opportunities to visit suppliers or attend key industry events.
WHY JOIN BCW?
You will help shape how an established manufacturer builds products for its next stage of growth. You will work directly with leadership, build systems that make teams better, bring real products to market, and learn modern tools — including AI and automation — that will make you more effective throughout your career.
If you have ever looked at a project everyone else thought was stuck and thought, “I can get this moving,” we would like to talk.
