Architectural Components, Inc. is seeking an experienced Project Management Department Manager to lead and develop our growing Project Management team. This is a key leadership position responsible for driving operational excellence, increasing project profitability, mentoring Project Managers, and ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction from project kickoff through closeout.
As the Project Management Department Manager, you will serve as the primary connection between executive leadership and the Project Management team. You will help shape the future of our operations by developing people, improving processes, and ensuring projects are executed safely, efficiently, and profitably.

Primary Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, mentor, coach, and develop the Project Management team.
- Conduct regular one-on-one meetings and annual performance reviews.
- Establish department goals, expectations, and performance standards.
- Train and onboard new Project Managers.
- Promote accountability while fostering a positive, solution-oriented culture.
- Balance workloads and assign projects based on experience and capacity.
- Facilitate productive weekly Project Management meetings.
Project Oversight
- Provide oversight of all active projects to ensure successful execution.
- Monitor project schedules, budgets, labor utilization, and profitability.
- Review project buyouts, contracts, and subcontract agreements.
- Ensure procurement, submittals, RFIs, scheduling, and closeout activities remain on track.
- Identify project risks early and implement proactive solutions.
- Support Project Managers with complex project challenges, negotiations, and customer issues.
Financial Management
- Review project budgets and cost reports.
- Monitor project financial performance and gross profit margins.
- Ensure timely processing of change orders and customer billings.
- Analyze labor productivity and job cost reports.
- Identify opportunities to improve profitability while maintaining customer satisfaction.
Operations & Process Improvement
- Develop and standardize Project Management procedures.
- Create and improve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Improve communication and workflow between Project Management, Estimating, Field Operations, Warehouse, and Accounting.
- Ensure project documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant with company standards.
- Drive continuous improvement throughout the department.
Customer & Vendor Relationships
- Build and maintain strong relationships with owners, general contractors, architects, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Support Project Managers during difficult customer conversations and contract negotiations.
- Resolve customer concerns professionally while protecting company interests.
- Promote outstanding customer service throughout every phase of the project.
Scheduling & Resource Management
- Coordinate manpower planning with Field Operations.
- Balance Project Manager workloads across the department.
- Prioritize project schedules and critical deadlines.
- Assist leadership with forecasting staffing and resource needs.
- Ensure appropriate project coverage throughout the department.
Executive Reporting
Provide regular reports to executive leadership regarding:
- Project status
- Department performance
- Financial results
- Project risks
- Staffing and resource needs
- Change order status
- Department KPIs
- Opportunities for improvement
Qualifications
Required
- 7–10+ years of commercial construction project management experience.
- 3–5+ years of leadership or management experience.
- Demonstrated ability to lead multiple commercial construction projects simultaneously.
- Strong understanding of project financial management and job costing.
- Ability to read and interpret contracts, construction drawings, and specifications.
- Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Strong organizational and decision-making abilities.
- High level of professionalism and accountability.
Preferred
- Experience in Division 10, specialty construction, or architectural specialties.
- Experience with Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, Monday.com, or similar construction management software.
- Experience mentoring and developing Project Managers.
