Applications/Proposal Engineer - (Electrical/Power Systems)

Location: Houston, TX (on-site)
Salary: $120,000 - $140,000
Requirements: Ability to produce one-lines and mechanical drawings in AutoCAD/Solidworks

We are looking for a skilled Applications/Proposal Engineer who can blend technical depth with strong customer interaction. In this role, you will work closely with clients, vendors, and internal teams to shape power system solutions that meet complex operational needs. You will take the lead in crafting technical proposals, designing tailored system configurations, and building productive relationships with key industry partners. This position calls for someone who can translate technical requirements into practical solutions while supporting both engineering and commercial objectives.

What You Will Be Doing

Develop technical and commercial proposals including specifications system designs and cost estimates
Ability to produce one-lines and mechanical drawings in AutoCAD/Solidworks
Serve as the primary technical contact for vendors, conduct site visits, assess requirements, and present solutions
Design and specify power system solutions including VFDs motor controls, power distribution and automation
Interpret drawings single line diagrams and technical documents ensure compliance with NEC IEEE and IEC standards
Build and maintain strong relationships with key vendors such as ABB Siemens Rockwell, Schneider, Eaton and Danfoss and negotiate pricing and technical terms
Support sales engineering and project teams to ensure accurate proposals and smooth project handoffs
Provide technical guidance during project execution and identify opportunities for value engineering
Develop technical documentation and contribute to standardized product and solution offering

What You Need for this Position

2-7+ years of experience in power generation, power controls, and power distribution industry
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical background
Ability to produce one-lines and mechanical drawings in AutoCAD/Solidworks
Proficiency with VFD drives
Familiarity with NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE, and IEC standards
Experience with SCR drives, generator controls, switchgear, and medium-voltage equipment
Able to travel up to 20%, when needed.
