This position offers ahybrid work arrangement (4 days onsite / 1 day remote) and requires a hands-on leader who is comfortable operating within a highly collaborative manufacturing environment.

Position Summary
The Division Accounting Manager is responsible for leading accounting, financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance activities across the U.S. Special Steel Division.
This role serves as the divisional accounting authority, ensuring consistent execution of accounting policies, internal controls, and reporting practices across multiple manufacturing facilities. The position partners closely with Plant Controllers while serving as a key interface with Corporate Accounting, Internal Audit, FP&A, Tax, Treasury, and external auditors.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience managing financial processes in complex, multi-site manufacturing organizations and possess the technical depth to address sophisticated accounting, reporting, costing, and control matters.

This is not a plant-level accounting position.
This role supports abillion dollar revenue industrial manufacturing division with significant operational complexity, multiple manufacturing sites, substantial fixed assets, inventory-intensive operations, and public-company control requirements.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Accounting & Reporting
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes across the division.
- Ensure timely, accurate, and compliant financial reporting under U.S. GAAP.
- Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and balance sheet analyses.
- Support consolidation and reporting requirements within a larger corporate structure.
- Provide technical accounting leadership on complex and non-routine transactions.
Internal Controls, Compliance & Audit
- Maintain divisional compliance with SOX and internal control requirements.
- Serve as primary liaison for external and internal audits.
- Lead remediation and corrective action plans related to control deficiencies.
- Drive a culture of financial discipline, accountability, and control excellence.
Manufacturing Accounting & Costing
- Provide leadership for inventory accounting, product costing, standard costing, variance analysis, and capital project accounting.
- Ensure accurate valuation of inventory and manufacturing assets.
- Support profitability analysis across products, customers, and manufacturing operations.
- Partner with Plant Controllers to ensure financial reporting reflects operational realities.
Systems & Process Improvement
- Provide governance over accounting and reporting systems including Plex, SAP, Adaptive, FloQast, Databricks, BNA, and related technologies.
- Lead initiatives involving automation, standardization, and process improvement.
- Improve reporting quality, data integrity, and close cycle efficiency across the division.
Leadership
- Lead and develop the divisional accounting team.
- Provide functional leadership to Plant Controllers across multiple facilities.
- Partner effectively with Operations, FP&A, Treasury, Tax, Corporate Accounting, and executive leadership.
- Build organizational capability through coaching, development, and succession planning.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- CPA strongly preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 10 years of progressive accounting experience in large-scale industrial or manufacturing organizations.
- Experience supporting businesses with significant operational complexity, preferably $500M+ revenue organizations.
- Experience in one or more of the following industries strongly preferred:
- Steel and metals
- Cement
- Pulp and paper
- Chemicals
- Oil & gas
- Mining
- Heavy industrial manufacturing
- Building materials
- Experience in publicly traded companies or SOX-regulated environments strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience leading accounting teams in multi-site manufacturing organizations.
- Significant experience interacting with corporate finance, executive leadership, auditors, and cross-functional business partners.
Technical Expertise
- Deep understanding of U.S. GAAP.
- Strong manufacturing accounting and cost accounting expertise.
- Experience with inventory-intensive and asset-intensive businesses.
- Strong ERP experience (SAP experience highly preferred).
- Advanced Excel and financial analysis capabilities.

Pay: From $136,960.00 per year
