Position Information
The TxDOT Support Services Division is seeking a highly motivated individual for an Inventory & Materials Specialist position at the Regional Distribution Center (RDC) in Post, TX. The RDC focuses on working individually and as a team to supply materials for the districts and divisions and assists in maintaining stocked inventories. The position will require monitoring inventory such as stocking, rotating, reporting items not meeting standards or goals, spot checks, and annual inventory cycle counts. This individual will pull orders and prepare them for shipment and also load and unload materials by hand or utilizing a forklift in safe and efficient manner.

Maximum Salary: 58,000.00

Position Description
Performs ordering and expediting functions or issues and maintains warehouse stock, supplies, equipment and materials. Work requires contact with other governmental and private entities. Employees at this level follow standard practices that do not require frequent supervision of details.
Essential Duties:

Evaluates new products.
-
Ensures the loading and unloading of stock, by using hand, hand truck or forklift according to policies and procedures.

Assists in reviewing and correcting automated receipts from the Warehouse Receiving Unit.

Cleans work area.
-
Conducts annual inventory.
-
Ensures incoming freight meets specifications as required moves these items using appropriate safety methods and tools.
-
Ensures warehouse area and equipment are kept clean and properly maintained.
-
Enters and reads computer data relating to the issuance and receipt of stock.
-
Handles problems relating to incorrect or damaged stock and disposes of surplus stock.

May train other employees

Monitors inventory levels to maintain stock at proper levels including ordering materials, reducing surplus or obsolete stock, and minimizing back orders.

Prepares correspondence to district personnel and vendors.

Prepares weekly orders for traffic signs

Processes receipts and transfers of minor equipment items.

Provides assistance to warehouse management as needed.
-
Provides status update information to management.
-
Records amount of materials/items received or distributed and reports discrepancies.
-
Requests or maintains hazardous materials data.
-
Weighs, counts, sorts and places materials/items on racks, shelves or bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color or commodity code; as required moves these items using appropriate safety methods and tools.

Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High School Grad or Equivalent in general high school studies
Experience: 4 years experience in warehouse operations, supplies management or purchasing and forklift operations. (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent). College education and/or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications
