Full Job Description

Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Purchasing Agent to join our procurement team. In this vital role, you will drive the sourcing, and purchasing processes to ensure the timely acquisition of quality materials, products, and services. Your expertise in supply chain management systems and vendor relationships will be instrumental in optimizing inventory levels, reducing costs, and supporting overall production and operational efficiency. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a fast-paced environment where strategic sourcing and procurement excellence are valued and celebrated.

Responsibilities

Manage end-to-end purchasing activities using ERP systems such as SAP, JD Edwards, Oracle EBS, and other purchasing management systems.
Develop and maintain strong vendor relationships through effective communication, and contract management to secure favorable pricing and terms.
Collaborate with sales, logistics, and inventory management teams to forecast needs and ensure optimal stock levels.
Conduct sourcing activities for direct procurement needs, including evaluating supplier options, and establishing supply agreements.
Utilize spreadsheets and Excel data analysis tools to track purchase orders, analyze procurement data, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
Oversee inventory control processes by coordinating with warehouse teams to monitor stock levels and prevent shortages or excesses.
Support supply chain management initiatives by participating in logistics planning, MRP (Material Requirements Planning), and e-commerce procurement strategies.

Qualifications

Proven experience in procurement or purchasing roles within manufacturing or distribution environments.
Strong familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP, SAP ERP, JD Edwards, Oracle EBS, AS400 or similar platforms.
Expertise in materials management, inventory control, vendor negotiation, and supply chain management practices.
Proficiency in using spreadsheets for data analysis (Excel), including pivot tables and advanced functions.
Excellent communication skills for vendor relationship management and contract negotiations.
Knowledge of logistics operations, pricing strategies, production planning, merchandising, and sourcing techniques.
Ability to analyze complex data sets to support procurement decisions and optimize costs.
