Full Job Description

Hiring: Microbiologist

Location: 550 West 16th St., Indianapolis, IN 46202
Duration: 4+ Months
Work Arrangement: Onsite
Schedule: Monday – Friday | 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM EST
Interview Mode: In-Person
Openings: 1

Key Responsibilities

Perform microbiological examinations and analyses on clinical specimens.
Isolate and identify enteric bacteria including:
Salmonella
E. coli
Shigella
Vibrio
Listeria
Campylobacter
Perform laboratory testing using:
Culture methods
Biochemical testing
Enzyme Immunoassay (EIA)
Serotyping
PCR
Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS)
Extract nucleic acids using manual and automated techniques.
Utilize molecular diagnostic technologies including PCR, sequencing, MALDI-TOF, and WGS.
Interpret, validate, and report laboratory findings accurately.
Maintain laboratory records and documentation in accordance with CLIA regulations.
Perform quality assurance and quality control procedures.
Maintain laboratory equipment and inventory.
Assist with epidemiological data collection and laboratory reporting.
Cross-train in additional laboratory disciplines as required.
Follow all laboratory safety procedures and biosafety protocols.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biological Sciences, or related field.
Strong experience in clinical or public health microbiology laboratory environments.
Hands-on experience with:
PCR
DNA/RNA Extraction
Molecular Diagnostics
Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS)
Microbial Culture Techniques
Knowledge of CLIA regulations and laboratory quality systems.
Experience using automated laboratory instruments and scientific equipment.
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently while maintaining strict quality standards.

Work Environment
