Full Job Description

MDS & Reimbursement Compliance Auditor/Consultant - RN

We are seeking a Registered Nurse to engage in consulting work related to reimbursement in Skilled Nursing Facilities in the Metro/Greater Atlanta area. Experience in the MDS/RAI process (MDS 3.0) and in-depth working knowledge of the Skilled Nursing Facility Prospective Payment System (Patient-Driven Payment Model) are necessary skill requirements. Prior Director of Nursing experience is a plus, but MDS Assessment Coordinator experience is essential.

Job Description

Registered Nurse with a minimum of five (5) years experience preparing Minimum Data Set 3.0 Assessments sought for a full-time hybrid position. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, self-driven, possess a strong understanding of Skilled Nursing Facility Medicare and Medicaid state case-mix reimbursement as well as Quality Measures and is able to effectively & professionally communicate review findings both in verbal and written form. The candidate must be proficient in understanding the Patient-Driven Payment Model and its many nuances to assist the company’s client base.

Duties will include:

Conducting onsite analysis of MDS assessment work product and Medicare processes (including system analysis) while identifying provider opportunities for improvement.
Writing reports to summarize audit and consultant review findings to include corrective action plan recommendations, as needed.
Provision of clinical reimbursement consultation to various long-term care providers.
Providing onsite training and education related to MDS assessments, care planning and Medicare and Medicaid processes, as needed.
Communicating and interacting with client & facility personnel in a professional and inviting manner to maintain strong partnerships and continued satisfaction with delivery of consulting services.
Periodic participation in survey & mock survey activities when requested.
Working and travelling with other clinical team members. Must be willing and able to receive direction from the team leader.

Skill and License Requirements

Current, unencumbered RN license
Must be willing & able to travel at times.
Detailed and accessible understanding of Skilled Nursing Facility Medicare PPS and Medicaid case-mix reimbursement
Detailed and accessible understanding of the RAI User’s Manual
Ability to convey regulatory information and system analysis/improvement recommendations to facility staff, both during facility visits and in writing
Computer and tech literacy including use of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc) and other programs as necessary. Exceptional writing and communication skills are mandatory.
Ability to quickly navigate client facilities’ EHR, therapy & other supporting software programs
