VDC Technician

VDC Technician

Position Overview
A strong mechanical contractor is looking ot bring on a VDC Technician who will play a vital role in supporting the design and construction process through advanced modeling techniques. This position focuses on creating and managing virtual design and construction models that enhance project efficiency and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

Create and maintain 3D models for sheet metal, piping, plumbing, and/or HVAC systems
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure accuracy in design and implementation
Conduct clash detection and resolve issues within the 3D models before construction begins
Assist in the preparation of shop drawings and as-built documentation
Utilize software tools to facilitate virtual design processes and improve project outcomes
Provide technical support and training to team members and stakeholders regarding VDC processes
Stay updated with industry trends and advancements related to virtual design and construction

Qualifications

Associate's degree or equivalent experience in mechanical, plumbing, or HVAC fields
Proficiency in 3D modeling software such as Revit, AutoCAD, or similar tools
Strong understanding of sheet metal, piping, plumbing, and HVAC systems
Experience in commercial construction projects
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
