Full Job Description

We are always seeking excellent writers to meet the growing ESG, Sustainability and DEI disclosure and reporting needs of both public company and private company clients. The ideal candidate will have experience writing about ESG/sustainability topics for corporate clients and the ability to apply that knowledge across the many sectors we work in. Experience with reporting is a major plus. This is a client-facing role that requires both independent writing as well as participation in client/team meetings

Typical activities include:

Working with a team of project managers, strategists, and designers to deliver consistently high-quality products and services to our clients
Conducting desk research and SME interviews, reviewing and extracting relevant information from disparate pieces of information and transforming into cohesive narratives that align with client needs, style/branding guidelines, and external ESG reporting requirements
Evaluating source material and determine how best to convey complex information clearly —whether as a background narrative, first-person message, feature story, sidebar, infographic, etc
Writing and editing reports and other communications pieces in a range of styles and tones and on a broad variety of ESG/sustainability topics, as sole author or as part of a writing team
Collaborating with designers to ensure the content and design align with and support one another to produce high-quality, substantive, visually compelling, and actionable deliverables

This is a project-based contract role paid fixed fee/fixed scope. You will be asked to provide an estimate based on project specifications. Candidates will be considered on a rolling basis.

To be successful, you will have:

5+ years of experience writing corporate communications either as an in-house, agency, or freelance communications professional, or similar experience in a related field — ESG/sustainability/CSR reports preferred
Excellent writing and editing skills; an ability to synthesize large volumes of information into a clear, concise, and well-organized narrative under time constraints
Demonstrated track record of always meeting deadlines
Ability to effectively describe technically complex information to both technical and non-technical audiences
Familiarity with ESG frameworks and their application(GRI, TCFD, SASB, UNGC, UN SDGs, etc.) as well as rankers and raters will be a big help
Ability to understand, interpret and communicate business/ESG strategy
Effective interview skills and ability to interact with subject matter experts at all levels of client companies
A self-directed, highly-motivated, detail-oriented approach
Ability to work collaboratively and flexibly, with a strong client service orientation
