Full Job Description

The Vermont Standard in beautiful Woodstock, VT is expanding its pool of freelance news reporters. We are now accepting applications from locally-based writers who have experience and a passion for telling local stories. Assignments may involve covering breaking news, local community events, town meetings or sports that take place on evenings or weekends, as well as feature stories. Accuracy, attention to detail, dependability, and adherence to tight deadlines is a must.

A journalism background is preferred, but it's not mandatory if you've truly got an interest in news that happens in the local communities we serve (a ten-town area). Assignments are made each week and you'll be paid by the assignment weekly.

The Vermont Standard has been named the top weekly newspaper in New England for four of the last six years. This is an opportunity for both veteran reporters as well as talented newcomers to work as much or as little as your schedule allows.
