Full Job Description

Overview
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Physician Assistant to support general surgeons within the Greater Houston area. This is a full-time, salaried position involving rounding at multiple hospitals, assisting with bedside procedures, and delivering high-quality patient care in a fast-paced surgical environment.

The ideal candidate will have prior experience in general surgery, bariatric surgery, hospital medicine, or acute care, along with the ability to work independently while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

This position offers professional growth and the opportunity to work closely with an experienced surgical team specializing in weight loss procedures.

Responsibilities

Perform hospital rounds, assess postoperative and inpatient surgical patients, including bariatric cases, and document clinical findings.
Conduct patient assessments including physical exams, vital signs, medication review, and detailed history documentation.
Monitor and manage postoperative bariatric patients, including recognizing and addressing potential complications
Travel between hospitals across the Greater Houston area based on the surgeon’s rounding schedule.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation within EMR system
Ensure compliance with all hospital protocols, HIPAA regulations, and sterile technique standards.
Communicate effectively with the surgeon regarding clinical changes, patient updates, and critical findings.

Skills

Current Physician Assistant license in the State of Texas.
Prior experience in general surgery, bariatric surgery, hospital medicine, ICU, or a related surgical specialty is preferred
Strong understanding of surgical anatomy, postoperative care, and inpatient management
Familiarity with bariatric procedures and postoperative care is a plus
Excellent communication, clinical judgment, and problem solving skills.
Ability to travel to multiple hospital locations within the Greater Houston area.
Strong commitment to patient care, professionalism, and collaborative teamwork.

Pay: $160,000.00 - $175,000.00 per year

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Houston, TX 77004
