Full Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled PCU / Medical Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this vital role, you will provide specialized nursing care to patients in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) and medical telemetry settings, ensuring continuous monitoring and comprehensive patient assessment. The ideal candidate will possess extensive critical care experience, demonstrate proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic and Cerner, and be committed to delivering exceptional patient-centered care. Requirements

Active RN license
BLS certification (AHA)
ACLS certification (AHA)
Recent PCU and/or Med/Tele experience required
Excellent communication, teamwork, and critical thinking abilities

Preferred Qualifications (but not required)

Previous travel nursing experience (but not required)
Experience in a high-acuity PCU or Medical Telemetry setting (but not required)
Previous experience at a teaching hospital (but not required)

Responsibilities

Monitor vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and physiological data using telemetry equipment to detect early signs of deterioration.
Administer medications, including IV infusions and injections, following strict aseptic techniques and hospital protocols.
Conduct thorough patient assessments, including physical examinations and documentation of clinical findings.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans aligned with best practices.
Respond promptly to emergency situations such as acute pain episodes or respiratory distress, utilizing advanced airway management skills.
Maintain accurate medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations and hospital standards.
Educate patients and their families about treatment plans, medication administration, and post-discharge care instructions.
Assist with procedures such as suturing, catheterization, or tube feeding as required.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives by adhering to NCQA standards and infection control protocols.
Support discharge planning processes by coordinating with case management and community resources.

Requirements

Current RN licensure with valid state certification; BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) preferred.
Minimum of two years of critical care experience in settings such as ICU, PCU, or telemetry units.
Proficiency with EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, or similar platforms.
Demonstrated knowledge of cardiac monitoring, ICD coding, and telemetry interpretation.
Experience working in hospital environments with Level I or Level II trauma centers is highly desirable.
Strong understanding of medical terminology, physiology, and diagnostic evaluation techniques.
Ability to perform under pressure in fast-paced environments while maintaining attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills for effective patient interaction and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Knowledge of infection control practices and aseptic techniques essential for safe patient care.
