Full Job Description

As Rhode Island’s largest health system and private employer, Brown University Health is committed to clinical excellence and devoted to our mission of delivering health with care. RI Hospital, Hasbro Children’s in Providence, RI is actively hiring Registered Nurses (RN) for the Emergency Department team. Under the direct supervision of the Clinical Manager (or designee), you will implement, supervise and evaluate the nursing care of each patient using a nursing process in accordance with established hospital and departmental policies and procedures.

The hourly pay rate for this role is $35.56 - $59.99. Full time, 36 hours per week (3–12-hour shifts), every other weekend and holiday. All shifts are available. No per diem. Experienced ED Nurses or at least 9 months’ experience in the ED. Medical Surgical Nurses with at least 1 year of acute care experience will be considered.

Responsibilities: 

Provide direct patient care from admission to discharge, utilizing all available resources to provide quality, cost effective care and assuming charge nurse responsibility for the unit as needed
Provide leadership by delegating, supervising and participating in safe nursing care activities provided by ancillary personnel, evaluating effectiveness of patient care and identifying opportunities for improvement
Assess and provide appropriate teaching based on patient and family needs and participate in unit-based quality improvement and research activities
Participate in educational opportunities and professional organizations and serve as a role model/preceptor to new graduate nurses and less experienced personnel

Qualifications:

Current RI RN license or compact license required
ASN; BSN preferred
American Heart Association BLS required and PALS certification within 6 months of hire required; NIHSS certification within 3 months of hire and 8 hours of continuing stroke education required annually; CWS or CWOCN certification preferred
