Title: U.S. General Manager, Sales – Freight Forwarding

Compensation: Base Salary $250,000–$300,000 + Performance-Based Incentive, negotiable

We are retained by our long-standing client, Headwin Logistics (https://en.headwin.com/about.html ), to appoint a U.S. General Manager, Sales – Freight Forwarding to lead its next phase of commercial expansion across the United States. Headwin is a leading international logistics provider offering integrated Ocean Freight, Air Freight, NVOCC, 3PL, and end-to-end supply chain solutions through a global network spanning more than 30 offices and 300+ overseas partners.
This is a rare opportunity to build a U.S. freight forwarding business from the ground up. The successful candidate will establish the commercial organization, recruit and develop the sales team, expand Ocean and Air Freight businesses across both Import and Export trade lanes, and drive sustainable revenue growth and profitability.
Supported by an established global logistics platform with extensive international resources, this executive will have the autonomy to build a scalable commercial operation while shaping the company's long-term presence in the U.S. market.
Key Responsibilities
I. Build the U.S. Commercial Organization
- Build the U.S. sales organization from the ground up, including recruiting, hiring, developing, and leading high-performing Sales Managers and Account Executives.
- Establish the commercial organization structure, territory strategy, reporting framework, and operating rhythm.
- Develop sales processes, CRM discipline, forecasting methodology, KPIs, compensation plans, and performance management systems.
- Foster a high-performance, results-driven commercial culture built on accountability, execution, and customer success.
II. Develop Ocean & Air Freight Business
Lead business development across:
- Ocean Freight (FCL / LCL)
- Air Freight
- Import & Export
- NVOCC
- Buyer's Consolidation
- Project Cargo
- Integrated Supply Chain Solutions
Expand customer-controlled freight while strengthening strategic trade lanes between the United States, China, Southeast Asia, and other global markets.
III. Drive Profitable Business Growth
Assume full ownership of the commercial performance of the U.S. business.
Key objectives include:
- Winning new strategic customers
- Expanding existing customer relationships
- Increasing shipment volume
- Growing gross profit
- Improving business margins
- Delivering sustainable, profitable growth
Success will be measured by revenue growth, gross profit, customer retention, and overall commercial performance.
IV. Lead as a Player-Coach
Personally lead major customer engagements while developing the commercial organization.
Responsibilities include:
- Closing strategic enterprise opportunities
- Executive relationship management
- Coaching Sales Managers
- Leading complex customer negotiations
- Supporting pricing strategy and contract negotiations
- Driving strategic account planning
V. Build a Scalable Commercial Platform
- Create the commercial infrastructure required to support long-term expansion
- Build a repeatable commercial engine capable of supporting nationwide growth.

The successful candidate is an entrepreneurial commercial leader with a proven ability to build freight forwarding businesses and high-performing sales organizations.
Candidates will typically bring:
- 10+ years of leadership experience within international freight forwarding, NVOCC, or global logistics organizations
- Demonstrated success building commercial organizations from the ground up
- Proven experience recruiting, developing, and leading successful sales teams
- Strong track record developing Ocean Freight and Air Freight businesses
- Deep understanding of Import & Export logistics
- Experience managing commercial P&L with accountability for revenue, gross profit, and profitability
- Established relationships with U.S.-based importers, exporters, BCOs, manufacturers, retailers, and supply chain decision-makers
- Strong knowledge of Trans-Pacific and global trade lanes
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with China and Southeast Asia markets
- Existing relationships with US based customers
- Experience within multinational logistics organizations
