Position Overview
The Senior Affordable Housing Compliance Auditor is responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance, operational accuracy, audit readiness, and risk mitigation across Pronto Housing’s affordable housing operations and customer workflows. This role supports the integrity of compliance processes by conducting detailed audits of annual, initial and interim certifications, identifying operational and regulatory risks, validating documentation accuracy, identifying key training areas and strengthening internal controls.
The Compliance Auditor partners closely with Compliance, Operations, Implementation, Product, Engineering, and external stakeholders to support consistent adherence to affordable housing program requirements, improve compliance workflows, and maintain scalable operational standards.
This role protects organizational compliance, reduces operational risk, strengthens audit preparedness, and ensures affordable housing processes remain accurate, defensible, and aligned with evolving regulatory requirements.
Key Outcomes
Compliance Auditing & File Review
Ensure affordable housing files, certifications, and operational workflows meet regulatory requirements, documentation standards, and audit expectations.
· Conduct detailed compliance audits and operational reviews across affordable housing programs and customer workflows
· Review tenant files, certifications, income calculations, rent determinations, recertifications, and supporting documentation for accuracy and completeness
· Evaluate compliance with LIHTC, HUD, HOME, Tax-Exempt Bond, Fair Housing, and related affordable housing program requirements
· Identify audit findings, compliance deficiencies, operational risks, and documentation gaps
· Recommend corrective actions and support remediation activities
· Maintain organized audit records, tracking logs, and supporting documentation
· Support external audit preparation activities and respond to documentation requests as needed
· Monitor ongoing compliance performance and escalate concerns appropriately
· Assist with quality assurance reviews and internal monitoring initiatives
Regulatory Compliance & Monitoring
Ensure operational processes remain aligned with evolving affordable housing regulations and compliance standards.
· Monitor changes to federal, state, and local affordable housing regulations and agency guidance
· Interpret and apply HUD, LIHTC, IRS Section 42, Fair Housing, HOME, and related regulatory requirements
· Support implementation of updated compliance procedures and operational standards
· Assist internal teams with compliance-related questions and issue resolution
· Evaluate workflows and operational practices for compliance risks and control weaknesses
· Support responses to compliance escalations, audit findings, and regulatory inquiries

Process Improvement & Operational Support
Build scalable and consistent compliance review processes that improve audit readiness, operational efficiency, and documentation quality.

Required Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Public Administration, Affordable Housing, or related field; or equivalent experience
· 5+ years of experience in affordable housing compliance, auditing, regulatory monitoring, or operational review environments
· Strong knowledge of LIHTC, HUD, HOME, Tax-Exempt Bond, Fair Housing, and affordable housing compliance requirements
· Experience reviewing tenant files, certifications, rent rolls, income calculations, and supporting compliance documentation
· Experience conducting compliance audits or operational reviews in regulated environments
· Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
· Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Word
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience conducting operational or compliance audits within affordable housing organizations
· Knowledge of IRS Section 42, Fair Housing, and Rent Stabilization requirements
· Familiarity with audit tracking systems, compliance monitoring tools, or affordable housing software platforms
· Experience working with government agencies, public housing authorities, syndicators, or affordable housing developers
· Experience translating regulatory guidance into operational procedures and audit standards
· Professional certifications preferred, including:
