Staff Accountant

Location: Waukesha, WI (100% onsite) 10% traveling domestically

Hours: M-F | 1st shift

Ready to accelerate your accounting career and make a visible impact? We’re seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant who is eager to take on new challenges, support key financial initiatives, and partner with senior leadership in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Job Summary

The Staff Accountant supports key financial reporting and analysis functions for Prolec-GE Vernova, Inc.’s manufacturing operations. This role partners closely with the Controller and Executive team to provide insight into financial performance, trends, and operational results.

Responsibilities include assisting with monthly financial reporting, annual operating planning, and rolling forecasts, as well as supporting internal and external audits. This is a highly visible role that collaborates across both executive leadership and operations teams.

Key Responsibilities

Execute month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, including general ledger maintenance and reconciliations
Review general ledger accounts and prepare accurate and timely journal entries
Analyze and interpret financial results to assess impact on overall company performance
Support and maintain strong internal control processes
Assist in the development and monitoring of operating budgets; investigate and explain variances vs. budget and prior periods
Contribute to the preparation, coordination, and analysis of annual plans and rolling forecasts
Participate in the development and enhancement of accounting policies and procedures
Perform ad hoc financial analysis and support special projects as needed
Monitor and track capital expenditures
Oversee and report on project revenue status and shipment activity

Qualifications & Skills

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Self-motivated with a high level of initiative and accountability
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools
Experience with ERP and financial systems (SAP and Hyperion Financial Management preferred)
Understanding of complex accounting concepts (e.g., commodity hedging, LIFO, percentage of completion)
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Strong communication skills with the ability to present financial information to diverse audiences, including senior leadership
High level of integrity and ability to manage confidential information
Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Education & Experience

Required:

Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
1–2 years of accounting or finance experience

Preferred:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
1–3 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
