The City of Sugar Land is seeking a full-time Fleet Services Supervisor in the Fleet Department.

Are you a hands-on leader with a passion for fleet operations and a talent for keeping complex equipment running at peak performance? We’re looking for a skilled and driven professional to oversee the maintenance and repair of our City’s diverse fleet—from heavy-duty trucks and construction equipment to light vehicles and specialized machinery.

In this role, you’ll do more than manage repairs—you’ll lead a team of dedicated technicians, coordinate critical maintenance operations, and help ensure the reliability and safety of the equipment that supports essential City services. You’ll play a key part in day-to-day shop operations, guide staff performance, and contribute to projects that improve efficiency and extend the life of our fleet assets.

As a Fleet Services Supervisor you will:

Provides exemplary customer service to all individuals by demonstrating a willingness to be attentive, understanding, and responsive, fair, courteous and respectful, and to actively participate in maintaining a positive environment.
Assists the Fleet Administrator in planning and directing the efficient and effective operations of the division, including staff development, financial management, and maintenance operations.
Ensures Division staff receive appropriate technical and safety training for the efficient and safe performance of tasks and responsibilities.
Responsible for maintaining effective and cooperative relationships with customer departments to ensure service delivery meets expectations.
Assists the division implement policies, procedures, and guidelines. Evaluate operational control weaknesses and modify and create new procedures.
Responsible for the management of the Division’s automated systems for the tracking, monitoring, and reporting of inventory, fleet repairs, costs and billing.
Prepares and presents weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports to Management regarding services and financial activities of the garage.
Responsible for the design, construction, inspection and acceptance of specialized vehicles and equipment.
Regular on-site attendance is an essential function of this position.
Required to work as an essential employee before, during and after an emergency or disaster, whether natural or acts of war.
Stay abreast of, and comply with, all City and departmental policies and procedures.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Director and/or their designee(s).
