Full Job Description

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Solar Fleet Manager to oversee the performance, reliability, and financial health of our growing portfolio of commercial-scale solar (and BESS) assets. This role serves as the primary owner of day-to-day fleet performance — bridging O&M vendor oversight, data-driven asset optimization, and stakeholder reporting to ensure every system in the portfolio generates at or above expected output.

The ideal candidate combines technical fluency in commercial PV/BESS systems with strong project management and vendor management skills, and is comfortable moving between SCADA/monitoring platforms, field operations, and executive-level reporting.

A successful candidate will be able to balance customer concerns, contractual requirements and business efficiency when reviewing performance from a fleet to individual system level.

This role will not be limited to system monitoring, but will also be expected to address and remedy issues with performance, and generate concise plans direct in-field fixes.

Key Responsibilities

Fleet Performance & Monitoring

Monitor real-time and historical production data across the commercial solar fleet using SCADA and monitoring platforms; identify underperformance trends and root causes.
Track key performance indicators (KPIs) including performance ratio, availability, capacity factor, and budgeted vs. actual generation.
Manage ticketing and issue escalation for inverter faults, communication outages, string-level underperformance, and BESS anomalies, for example

O&M & Vendor Management

Serve as the primary point of contact for O&M service providers; manage SLAs, response times, and corrective/preventive maintenance schedules.
Coordinate site visits, truck rolls, and warranty claims with equipment manufacturers (inverters, modules, racking, BESS).
Review and approve O&M vendor invoicing, scope changes, and annual maintenance plans.

Asset & Financial Reporting

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual performance reports for internal stakeholders, investors, and asset owners.
Support budgeting and forecasting for O&M costs, capital expenditures, and repairs/replacements across the fleet.
Track and report on production guarantees, availability guarantees, and liquidated damages exposure under EPC and O&M agreements.

Compliance & Documentation

Maintain up-to-date asset records, single-line diagrams, interconnection agreements, and warranty documentation for each site.
Support utility interconnection compliance, net metering/PPA reconciliation, and renewable energy certificate (REC) reporting where applicable.
Coordinate with engineering and commercial teams on system upgrades, repowering, or extended-life initiatives.

Cross-Functional Coordination

Partner with development, EPC, and legal teams during the transition of new projects from construction into operations (COD handoff).
Work with commercial/finance teams on ITC compliance documentation, placed-in-service verification, and safe harbor recordkeeping as it relates to operating assets.
Provide technical input on RFPs for O&M contracts, monitoring platforms, and major equipment replacements.

Qualifications

Required

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Renewable Energy, Business, or related field or equivalent practical experience.
3–7 years of experience in solar O&M, asset management, or fleet performance management, with a focus on commercial/C&I-scale systems.
Working knowledge of PV system components (inverters, modules, racking, transformers) and monitoring/SCADA platforms.
Experience with multiple manufacturers, such as Solaredge, CPS, SMA etc.
Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel; experience with production modeling tools (e.g., PVsyst, Helioscope) a plus.
Excellent vendor management, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to travel to project sites as needed. Projects are concentrated in the North East.

Preferred

Experience with battery energy storage system (BESS) operations and monitoring.
Familiarity with ITC/tax equity compliance requirements for operating solar assets.
Experience with utility interconnection processes, PPAs, or net metering reconciliation.
OSHA 10/30 certification or equivalent site safety training.
A background in electrical or data installations and service is preferred.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
