We are seeking experienced combat-arms instructors to join our ASALT Team supporting the U.S. Marine Corps.
Position Summary
The ASALT Site Tech is the cornerstone of CK's daily presence at an assigned Marine Corps installation. You will deliver synthetic small arms lethality training to Marine units, operate and maintain the ASALT system, capture human performance data, conduct After-Action Reviews, and serve as the on-site face of CK to the Marine Corps unit POCs, and other government personnel
This is a hybrid instructor-maintainer role. Both Site Techs at every site cross-train across instruction, system maintenance, and weapons sustainment to ensure resilient operations.
What You'll Do
Training Delivery
- Deliver basic through dynamic, scenario-based marksmanship and decision-making training on the M18, M4/M4A1, M27, and M240 (and associated optics) using CK's proprietary synthetic training platform
- Build and modify training scenarios to meet the supported unit's T&R, IMC IMA, qualification, and pre-deployment training objectives.
- Apply Human Performance Optimization principles.
- Conduct instructor-led After-Action Reviews.
- Coordinate scheduling through the Range Facility Management Support System (RFMSS) and directly with unit POCs
System Operations and Maintenance
- Perform scheduled recalibration, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance of the synthetic training system, projectors, screens, computers, and weapon/optic suite
- Conduct armorer-level service on synthetic weapons and pneumatic systems: disassemble, diagnose, repair, reassemble, and function-check
- Maintain physical security of all simulated weapons and ancillary equipment
- Perform system capability demonstrations for unit leaders, Range Control, and distinguished visitors
Data, Reporting, and Customer Engagement
- Ensure accurate capture of individual and collective training data within the ASALT system
- Submit monthly site inputs feeding the and Monthly Status Report
- Conduct regular check-ins with supported units to drive throughput and identify scenario needs
- Identify business-development opportunities (new units, new exercises, new mission profiles)
Required Qualifications
- DoD Combat Arms background; honorable discharge
- Minimum one (1) year of formal instructor experience at a DoD formal school (SOI, ITB, MCT, Raider Training Center, MOS-producing schoolhouse, or service-equivalent)
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain a DBIDS credential (and CAC if required by the installation); ability to pass a T-1/NACI background investigation for a Public Trust position
- Successful completion of the CK Green Team two-week course at CK HQ in Reston, VA within twelve (12) months of hire
- Strong instructional presence and the ability to communicate complex concepts to mixed audiences from junior Marines to senior leaders
- Ability to work independently, prioritize, and multitask in a fast-paced training environment with shifting priorities and short-notice schedule changes
- Superior organization, problem-solving, documentation, and interpersonal skills
- Experience with Microsoft 365 / Office and basic desktop OS troubleshooting
- Mechanical aptitude; proficient with common hand tools
Preferred Qualifications
- Combat-arms schoolhouse instructor experience (SOI-East/West, ITB, MCT, Raider Training Center, MCSCG, Scout Sniper Instructor, MGTC)
- Armorer experience (DoD MOS 2111 or civilian equivalent), particularly with M4/M4A1, M27, M240, and M18
- Formal background in physical fitness, strength and conditioning, or human performance training (CSCS, TSAC-F, USMC FFI, MCMAP)
- Working knowledge of RFMSS, MCTIMS, and unit T&R management
- Physically fit and capable of performing combat-maneuver training at individual and team level in full kit
Schedule and Work Environment
- Standard training day generally falls between 0700 and 1600, targeting 40 training hours per week
- Typical 8-hour workday; evening, weekend, and holiday support may be required to meet exercise needs
- Primary work occurs at indoor synthetic training facilities aboard the assigned installation, with periodic outdoor exposure
- Capable of standing and instructing 6–10 hours per day
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and handle pneumatic equipment and weapon cases
Compensation and Career Path
- Pay commensurate with experience, contract labor category, and location
- 1099 Independent Contractor initially; convertible to W-2 full-time employee with full benefits eligibility upon successful Green Team completion
- Promotion potential into ASALT Site Lead, Regional Integrator, and Project Management roles
- Merit-based promotion system — performance matters most, not seniority
