Position Overview

The Solar Design & Energy Consultant will play a critical role in the customer journey by designing high-quality solar solutions, conducting initial customer consultations, analyzing energy usage, and supporting the sales process from lead qualification through proposal development.

This position requires a unique combination of technical understanding, customer communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to translate complex energy concepts into simple, compelling solutions for homeowners and commercial customers.

The ideal candidate enjoys solving problems, working with customers, leveraging technology, and being part of a high-performance team.

Key ResponsibilitiesSolar Design & Engineering Support

Develop accurate residential and commercial solar system designs using solar design software (such as Aurora Solar, Helioscope, or similar platforms)
Analyze electricity usage, utility rates, property characteristics, and customer goals to create optimized solar solutions
Evaluate roof layouts, ground-mount opportunities, shading impacts, system production estimates, and financial benefits
Prepare preliminary solar proposals, layouts, production estimates, and customer presentation materials
Collaborate with sales, engineering, and installation teams to ensure project accuracy and customer satisfaction
Assist with battery storage, energy management, and smart energy solution designs

Customer Consultation & Lead Qualification

Conduct initial consultation calls with inbound solar leads
Understand customer energy goals, challenges, and motivations
Educate customers on:
Solar ownership benefits
Rising utility costs
Energy independence
Battery backup solutions
Available incentives and tax benefits
Long-term energy savings opportunities
Qualify opportunities and schedule next steps with senior sales consultants
Deliver a professional, consultative customer experience consistent with the ReNew Solar Solutions brand

Commercial Solar Support

Assist with commercial solar opportunity development
Review commercial electric bills and energy consumption data
Support feasibility analysis for businesses, nonprofits, agricultural facilities, and larger energy users
Help identify opportunities for solar, battery storage, demand management, and energy efficiency solutions

Operational Responsibilities

Maintain accurate customer information and project details within CRM systems
Coordinate with internal teams to ensure smooth project progression
Stay current on solar technology, incentives, utility programs, and industry trends
Support continuous improvement initiatives within the sales and design process

Required Qualifications

2+ years of experience in solar, renewable energy, electrical, construction, engineering, architecture, or related industries preferred
Strong understanding of residential and/or commercial solar systems
Experience with solar design software preferred
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical customers
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
Comfortable conducting phone consultations and customer conversations
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and CRM platforms

Preferred qualifications

Candidates with experience in any of the following are strongly encouraged to apply:

NABCEP certification or solar training
Electrical experience
Construction estimating
Energy consulting
Utility rate analysis
