Senior Accountant

Pay: $19.70/hr. - $34.48/hr.
Location: Morrow, GA
Job Type: Contract

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to support the development, implementation, analysis, and monitoring of accounting activities for a department or agency. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting professional who can work independently, analyze financial data, identify trends, prepare reports, and provide recommendations to management.

The Senior Accountant may also serve in a lead capacity, supporting accounting processes, financial reporting, reconciliations, and system-based financial analysis.

Key Responsibilities

Perform and oversee accounting activities, financial analysis, reconciliations, and reporting.
Analyze financial information, programs, transactions, and trends to identify issues and recommend improvements.
Prepare a full range of financial reports, including specialized, non-standard, federal, or management reports.
Retrieve, review, and analyze accounting data from financial systems and related tools.
Support the development, implementation, and monitoring of accounting procedures and controls.
Use financial software applications and reporting tools to generate queries, system reports, and data outputs.
Manage multiple priorities and assignments with limited supervision.
Communicate financial findings clearly through written reports, presentations, and discussions with internal stakeholders.
May provide guidance or leadership support to other accounting staff or project teams.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must meet one of the following education and experience combinations:

Master’s degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university and at least two years of professional accounting experience; or
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university and at least three years of professional accounting experience; or
Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field that included introductory and intermediate accounting coursework and at least four years of professional accounting experience.

Some positions may require professional certifications.

Preferred Qualifications

Strong candidates may also bring experience with one or more of the following:

Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Access, and Word.
Experience using PeopleSoft or other financial accounting systems.
Experience retrieving data, building queries, and producing system-generated financial reports.
Experience preparing federal reports or financial statements.
Experience analyzing and reconciling accounting data and transactions.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting practices.
Excellent analytical, organizational, written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to work independently, prioritize assignments, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
