Sr. Principal Business Systems Analyst, UKG, Inc., Alpharetta, Georgia (Hybrid)
Responsible for the design, development, testing, and deployment of new software solutions that deliver business value as well as supporting existing software solutions in a complex systems landscape. Will also conduct requirements elicitation, write user stories, create complex software solution designs, and build and test system solutions that meet business needs. Will contribute to strategic roadmap decisions in collaboration with senior leaders and identify innovative opportunities to transform UKG's business solutions for growth.
Specific duties include the following:
- Leading the design, building, testing, and implementation of clean, efficient, testable, and maintainable high-impact software solutions on-time and within budget that are scalable and meet UKG requirements, leveraging out-of-box functionality wherever possible, favoring configuration over code, coordinating activities and tasks of other team members, collaborating regularly with technical leads and developers to ensure high standards of quality, working independently and needing guidance only in the most complex situations, and ensuring delivery of desired business outcomes;
- Leading requirements elicitation discussions with cross-functional business stakeholders to understand current pain points and desired outcomes of requested solutions, drive decision when there are conflicting requirements, and document user stories or business requirements document;
- Designing new and enhanced systems solutions that are technically sound, deliver business value, and meet desired outcomes, including leading and facilitating cross-functional design, configuration of specifications, and process and data-modeling;
- Leading design reviews with peers and stakeholders to assess new cross-functional designs of new features and systems, ensuring high standards of performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability, and providing feedback to junior business systems analysts on business requirements and solution designs that consider cross-functional impacts and strategic goals;
- Driving technical strategy and vision for major projects and initiatives, ensuring alignment with business goals and industry best practices;
- Defining and executing test cases, providing functional solution demonstrations, and leading user testing sessions when applicable that result in user acceptance;
- Providing recommendations and driving decisions, in close collaboration with business leaders, that impact the strategic systems roadmap and priorities based on business outcomes;
- Analyzing and maintaining system configurations to satisfy business requirements;
- Solving complex technical issues with innovative solutions and setting precedents as needed;
- Communicating complex technical concepts to team members, business stakeholders, and senior leadership related to requirements, issues, and solution delivery, anticipating potential objections and influencing others to adopt a point of view;
- Providing technical mentorship and guidance to junior analysts and providing input to business stakeholders on potential improvements to help transform UKG's business operations;
- Staying current with emerging technologies and industry trends, advocating for their adoption where appropriate to drive innovation and productivity enhancement within Digital and Business teams (e.g. CoPilot, GenAI).
Requirements:
Position requires either (i) a Master’s degree (or an equivalent foreign degree) in Software Engineering, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or a closely related field and 5 years of experience as a lead software business systems analyst for enterprise projects or (ii) a Bachelor’s degree (or an equivalent foreign degree) in Software Engineering, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or a closely related field and 7 years of experience as a lead software business systems analyst for enterprise projects.
Must also have 5 years of experience (which can have been gained concurrently with either primary experience requirement above) working with the following:
- Implementing, configuring Salesforce-based applications, including custom objects, Lightning Components, automation workflows, and data models to support and re-engineer complex business processes.
- Managing projects designing, architecting, developing, deploying, configuring, and enhancing enterprise software applications by translating functional requirements into technical specifications, system architectures, and scalable software solutions.
- Leading enterprise-level system performance analysis by evaluating application metrics, data flows, and integration patterns to identify functional defects, performance bottlenecks, and scalability risks; conducting in-depth root cause analysis; translating findings into detailed technical specifications and enhancement requirements for development teams; overseeing solution design validation; reviewing technical artifacts; and ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture standards, secure SDLC practices, testing frameworks (unit, integration, regression), and high-availability system requirements across complex, integrated platforms.
- Utilizing Agile-Scrum methodologies and project management software (e.g. JIRA) to manage development tasks, refine technical user stories, estimate effort, and support continuous integration and deployment pipelines.
- Conducting data-driven analysis and creating data visualizations using advanced data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau) to inform strategic program decisions and process improvements and briefing business stakeholders and senior leadership regarding complex technical information, providing recommendations, and driving decisions that impact strategic systems roadmaps and priorities based on business outcomes.
Position requires approximately 25% of domestic and international travel by air.
This is a hybrid position working 3 days per week out of UKG Inc.’s office in Alpharetta, GA and 2 days per week from home.
