Full Job Description

Community Partnerships, Inc. (CPI) is dedicated to building inclusive communities that embrace the inherent potential of every individual. CPI provides direct services to children and adults with developmental disabilities and adults with brain injuries. The CPI team is made up of experienced therapists, job coaches, case managers, and other professionals.

The Staff Accountant supports the mission of CPI by performing a variety of accounting and administrative duties. CPI is a mid-size non-profit agency with a small Accounting Department. The Staff Accountant position will have diverse responsibilities in all accounting functions including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

Process payroll through third party vendors, and maintain related reports
Prepare journal entries and monthly expense allocations
Reconcile general ledger accounts
Perform bank reconciliations
Assist in the preparation and distribution of financial statements
Prepare schedules for external audit
Assist in preparation and review of budgets
Coordinate benefit administration tracking with HR
Audit staff timesheets and track accrued leave time
Audit and process reimbursement of staff expense reports
Reconcile monthly credit card account
Assign accounting classification of all expenditures
Post payments and cash receipts
Maintain accounting files and backup documentation
Prepare special projects as requested
Work with members of the agency’s Leadership Team for data analysis and tracking reports
Perform operational best-practice activities in support of established systems of internal controls

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and 2 years of relevant accounting experience
Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills and experience with accounting software
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with various staff
Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
Knowledge and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
Payroll experience preferred
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
