Professor Jelena Obradović is seeking research assistants to work in preschools and elementary schools to test new assessments of curiosity, creative thinking, problem solving, scientific reasoning, and social-emotional skills for children ages 3-8.
Successful applicants will have prior experience working with young children, an interest in developmental psychology or education, and strong organizational skills and attention to detail. We especially seek applicants who are bilingual and speak either Cantonese or Spanish fluently, as well as English.
Work responsibilities will primarily consist of in-person data collection at local preschools and elementary schools.
Research assistants will receive training in research ethics and in the SPARK Lab study procedures related to data collection and processing. They will have supervised practice before working with children, parents, and teachers. This position requires passing a Livescan fingerprint background check. Some school sites require a recent COVID-19 vaccination and a negative tuberculosis (TB) test.
Work location: Training will take place at Stanford University. Data collection will occur in schools in San Francisco and/or San Mateo County. Research assistants will be responsible for transportation to work sites. For this reason, applicants living in or around San Francisco are preferred for this job.
Pay: $27/hour
Time commitment: 10-20 hours per week

End date: Open, with the possibility of continuing work
