Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Manager to lead commissioning, MEP quality, testing, and system readiness for a mission-critical data center project.
This role is ideal for someone who understands the pressure, precision, and coordination required to deliver data center infrastructure. The successful candidate will be deeply involved in mechanical, electrical, controls, and life safety systems from installation review through testing, commissioning, deficiency closure, turnover, and final client acceptance.
You will work closely with project leadership, engineering teams, trade partners, vendors, and client representatives to ensure all critical systems are installed, tested, documented, and performing as designed.
This is a hands-on field leadership role for someone who takes pride in building reliable infrastructure, solving complex MEP issues, and driving quality from start to finish.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the commissioning program for mechanical, electrical, controls, and life safety systems on a data center project.
- Manage and support MEP QA/QC activities to verify installation quality and compliance with drawings, specifications, codes, and project requirements.
- Develop, manage, and execute commissioning plans, schedules, checklists, test scripts, and turnover requirements.
- Oversee Pre-Functional Checklists, Functional Performance Testing, Integrated Systems Testing, equipment start-up, and system validation.
- Coordinate commissioning and QA/QC activities with Project Managers, Superintendents, Design Engineers, Trade Contractors, Vendors, and Client Representatives.
- Lead and participate in Factory Acceptance Tests, Site Acceptance Tests, start-up activities, and vendor testing.
- Validate performance of critical systems including power distribution, switchgear, UPS, generators, fuel systems, cooling systems, BMS/EMS, fire alarm, and emergency power systems.
- Review installation quality and identify deficiencies, non-conformances, incomplete work, and system readiness issues.
- Maintain accurate issue logs, commissioning reports, QA/QC records, test documentation, and deficiency tracking.
- Drive timely resolution and closure of commissioning and quality issues with trade partners and project teams.
- Review and support completion of as-built drawings, O&M manuals, training documentation, turnover packages, and closeout deliverables.
- Support system demonstrations, owner training, and final handover to operations teams.
- Promote a strong safety, quality, and accountability culture across all MEP and commissioning activities.
- Support continuous improvement of DEC’s commissioning, QA/QC, documentation, and field execution standards.
Qualifications
Education
- Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Systems Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical field is preferred.
- Equivalent hands-on field experience in MEP commissioning, QA/QC, or mission-critical construction will also be considered.
Experience
- 7–10+ years of experience in MEP commissioning, QA/QC, construction quality, or field engineering.
- Strong experience with industrial, commercial, mission-critical, or data center construction projects.
- Direct data center experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience working with MEP-intensive projects involving power, cooling, controls, redundancy, and integrated system testing.
- Experience coordinating with trades, engineers, vendors, project managers, and client representatives.
Technical Knowledge
Strong understanding of data center and MEP systems, including:
- Switchgear and electrical distribution
- UPS systems
- Generators and emergency power systems
- Fuel systems
- Chillers, cooling plants, CRAH/CRAC units, pumps, and hydronic systems
- Fire alarm and fire protection systems
- BMS, EMS, SCADA, and controls integration
- Life safety systems
- Redundancy concepts and critical system sequencing
- Start-up, testing, commissioning, and turnover requirements
Software / Documentation
- Experience with Procore, BIM 360, Autodesk Construction Cloud, CxAlloy, Facility Grid, or similar QA/QC and commissioning platforms is an asset.
- Strong ability to maintain clear documentation, reports, issue logs, test records, and turnover packages.
- Comfortable reviewing drawings, specifications, submittals, shop drawings, and commissioning documentation.

- Electrical, mechanical, building systems, or controls-related training
- Data center, mission-critical, or MEP specialty training
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate has successfully supported or led commissioning and QA/QC on complex MEP projects and understands what it takes to deliver critical infrastructure without shortcuts.
You are comfortable in the field, know how to work with trades and technical teams, and can identify issues before they become costly problems. You understand that in data center construction, documentation, testing, coordination, and quality control are just as important as installation.
You do not need constant direction. You can take ownership of the commissioning and quality process, keep teams aligned, and help ensure the project is delivered safely, correctly, and on schedule.

Pay: $170,000.00 - $200,000.00 per year
