About Us

Fishetarian Fish Market is a family‑owned, community‑focused seafood restaurant located on the beautiful Bodega Bay waterfront. We’re known for fresh, sustainably sourced seafood, a positive team culture, and a warm, welcoming environment for both guests and staff. Our leadership team values consistency, accountability, and a supportive workplace where people take pride in doing things the right way.

Position Summary

The Assistant General Manager (AGM) supports the General Manager in daily operations and helps lead both FOH and BOH teams. This role requires a steady, reliable leader with strong communication skills, a calm presence, and an ownership mentality. The AGM takes initiative, follows systems, and helps protect the business through consistent, compliant practices.

The AGM also plays a key role in guest communication, digital correspondence, and maintaining our high hospitality standards. When the GM is off‑site, the AGM is fully responsible for all teams, all positions, and the overall operation.

The ideal candidate is community‑minded, team‑oriented, and committed to maintaining a safe, positive, and legally compliant workplace.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

Support the GM with daily operations, opening/closing procedures, and shift oversight
Supervise FOH and coordinate with BOH to maintain smooth service flow
Provide leadership support during peak periods, weekends, and holidays
Ensure staff follow established procedures, checklists, and operational systems
Assist with schedule adjustments, shift coverage, and labor management
Ensure legally compliant break scheduling and documentation
Serve as the acting manager in charge when the GM is not on site

Team Leadership & HR Support

Lead with consistency, professionalism, and a supportive attitude.
Provide coaching and real‑time feedback to staff.
Draft corrective action documentation for GM review.
Participate in interviews and assist in training new team members.
Help maintain a respectful, team‑driven work environment.

Guest Relations & Communication

Take ownership of guest communication channels, including:

Respond to guest inquiries, concerns, and feedback with clarity, warmth, and professionalism
Regularly interact with guests alongside the Hospitality Specialists and FOH team
Assist with service recovery and ensure guests receive a welcoming, community‑focused experience

Compliance, Safety & Cleanliness

Ensure staff follow all health code, safety, and sanitation standards.
Monitor food safety practices, cleanliness, and proper handling procedures.
Support the GM in maintaining a compliant, liability‑aware operation.

Inventory & Administrative Support

Provide light inventory support such as receiving orders and checking counts.
Assist with POS updates, menu changes, and basic administrative tasks as needed.
Communicate effectively with vendors, staff, and leadership.

Qualifications

2+ years of leadership experience in restaurants, hospitality, or high‑volume retail.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to remain calm, consistent, and solution‑oriented under pressure.
Proven ability to follow systems and maintain accountability.
Comfortable with technology (POS systems, scheduling tools, basic spreadsheets).
Availability on weekends and holidays.

Compensation & Benefits

$90,000–$115,000 annually, depending on experience
