Role Overview
Our company promotes a real‑time interactive streaming platform specializing in Silhouette technology—live audio‑video avatars with removed background that are streamed in real time and rendered directly inside photorealistic, walkable 3D environments. Our real-time interactive streaming platform is powered by an AWS/Linux/Three.js/Red5 Pro WebRTC architecture designed for ultra‑low‑latency interactive and scalability-on-demand experiences. We’re constructing a real‑time, large‑scale 3D microverse platform and intend to replace the Red5 Pro WebRTC layer with LiveKit to support massive, million‑user scalability.
We are seeking a Senior WebRTC/LiveKit Engineer with deep experience in distributed SFU architectures, AWS autoscaling, and real‑time 3D rendering pipelines.
Responsibilities
- Design LiveKit clusters capable of handling millions of concurrent WebRTC connections
- Implement SFU load balancing across AWS regions using EC2, EKS, or ECS
- Build a high‑availability signaling layer (WebSocket/Node.js)
- Integrate MediaPipe/TensorFlow background‑removal pipelines into the WebRTC publishing flow
- Implement Insertable Streams or server‑side GPU processing for video segmentation
- Build Three.js/WebXR components that render live WebRTC video as textures in 3D scenes
- Optimize latency, bandwidth, simulcast, and codec configurations
- Implement TURN/STUN infrastructure for global connectivity (coturn)
- Create CI/CD pipelines for autoscaling SFU nodes
- Ensure security, DDoS resilience, and monitoring (Prometheus/Grafana)
Required Expertise
- Minimum of 3 years in Senior WebRTC + LiveKit Architect role with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical field
- LiveKit (routers, workers, transports, scalability patterns)
- WebRTC internals (ICE, DTLS, SRTP, simulcast, SVC, congestion control)
- AWS infrastructure:
- EC2, ALB/NLB
- Autoscaling Groups
- EKS/ECS
- Route53 latency‑based routing
- Coturn
- Redis/Postgres for signaling/state
- Linux performance tuning (kernel params, networking, UDP optimization)
- Three.js and WebGL texture pipelines
- MediaPipe/TensorFlow.js for real‑time segmentation
- Node.js for signaling and orchestration
- Experience with large‑scale distributed systems
⭐ Bonus Skills
- Unity/Unreal WebRTC plugin experience
- GPU‑accelerated video processing (CUDA, WebGPU, ONNX)
- Experience with MoQ or WebTransport
- Experience with multi‑region failover architectures
Deliverables
- Fully functioning LiveKit cluster with on-demand autoscaling feature
- Three.js microverse client that renders live video textures
- Monitoring + logging + autoscaling rules
- Documentation + handoff
