Technical Summary
The Epic Systems Analyst III supports the Patient Access and Hospital Operations Technologies organization by serving as a senior-level subject matter expert responsible for the analysis, design, configuration, implementation, optimization, and ongoing support of Epic Prelude and related Patient Access applications, with secondary support for Epic Grand Central workflows. This role analyzes complex operational and business requirements and translates them into scalable, efficient technology solutions that align with organizational goals, Epic best practices, regulatory standards, and industry requirements.
Leveraging advanced technical, analytical, and workflow design expertise, the Epic Systems Analyst III leads and supports enterprise initiatives focused on patient registration, identity management, insurance verification, eligibility, admissions, and patient access workflows, while also supporting Grand Central functionality related to patient movement, admissions, discharges, transfers (ADT), and hospital operations. The position identifies opportunities to improve system performance, data integrity, operational efficiency, and the patient and staff experience while supporting the full application lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, configuration, testing, implementation, optimization, training, and production support.
Working collaboratively with Patient Access, Revenue Cycle, Hospital Operations, clinical leaders, business stakeholders, vendors, and cross-functional IT teams, the Epic Systems Analyst III serves as a trusted advisor by providing strategic guidance and technical expertise to ensure the stability, scalability, interoperability, and long-term success of Epic Patient Access solutions. This role promotes standardized workflows, supports regulatory and operational compliance, and drives continuous improvement across patient registration, identity management, insurance eligibility, admissions, patient movement, and downstream system integrations.
Job Summary:
In addition to the responsibilities listed below, this position is responsible for system build, testing, validation, and ongoing support of assigned applications. This position will possess clinical or IT systems knowledge and experience to develop and support safe and high quality care using the electronic health record. This position will perform in depth and precise investigation and documentation of future- state operational specifications and application functionality. Performing analysis of application capabilities workflows, data collection, report details, and other clinical and/or technical issues associated with Epic software. This position is responsible for developing and documenting the internal procedures that will be used in conjunction with Epic applications. Some of the unique challenges this position will face include analyzing clinical and business operations and investigating user preferences; prioritizing & implementing requested system changes & updates; serving as a liaison between end users, third parties, and Epic implementation staff. This position develops and documents internal procedures, collects information and prepares specifications of system enhancements, analyzes functionality in new releases and tests each new release.

- Supports communications with product users and suppliers to share information, identify opportunities, resolve problems, prioritize customer requirements, and maintain continuous improvement through customer feedback.

- Participates in the installation, upgrade, or decommissioning of designated systems, products, and infrastructure.

- Creates documentation of new and existing system configuration and procedural information, and reviews documentation of others.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum two (2) years experience working with EPIC or comparable health system softwareORMinimum two (2) years scripting or programming experience.
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Social Science, Education, Business, Health Care or related field and Minimum three (3) years working in IT or operations. Additional equivalent work experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two (2) years experience in EPIC administration and configuration.
- Two (2) years experience in the administration and custom configuration of large of-the-shelf applications or software packages.
