Freeland Electric is seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to join our growing team. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with a strong commercial electrical background who can accurately estimate projects ranging from $250,000 to $5 million.

Our estimators play a critical role in the success of our projects by preparing competitive, accurate bids, collaborating with project managers and field personnel, and helping secure the commercial, industrial, and government work that drives our company forward. Position Summary

As an Electrical Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing detailed estimates for commercial electrical construction projects throughout Maryland, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Washington, D.C., and Northern Virginia. You'll analyze plans and specifications, perform quantity takeoffs, coordinate with vendors and subcontractors, and work closely with our operations team to develop accurate and competitive proposals.

This position requires strong technical knowledge of commercial electrical systems, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously while meeting strict deadlines.

Primary Responsibilities

Prepare complete and accurate electrical estimates for commercial, industrial, institutional, and government projects ranging from $250,000 to $5 million
Review drawings, specifications, addenda, and bid documents
Perform detailed material and labor takeoffs
Develop competitive pricing strategies while maintaining company profitability
Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations
Coordinate with project managers, field supervisors, and company leadership during the estimating process
Participate in bid reviews and project handoff meetings
Maintain organized bid files and project documentation
Complete Field Audits
Assist with value engineering and cost-saving recommendations when appropriate
Travel throughout the tri-state region for pre-bid meetings, job walks, and customer meetings as needed
Support continuous improvement of estimating procedures and documentation

Required Qualifications

Minimum of five (5) years of commercial electrical field experience
Proven experience estimating commercial electrical construction projects
Experience estimating projects valued between $250,000 and $5 million
Strong understanding of commercial electrical systems, NEC requirements, and construction practices
Proficiency with McCormick Estimating Software
Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu
Experience using Procore
Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft 365 Business Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams
Excellent mathematical and analytical skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
Valid driver's license with the ability to travel throughout the tri-state area

Experience estimating federal, government, healthcare, educational, or large commercial projects
Design-build estimating experience
Knowledge of project scheduling and construction sequencing
Experience reviewing specifications and contract documents
Familiarity with value engineering and alternative pricing methods
