Full Job Description

Founded in 1992, Factory Automation Systems is an industrial automation systems integrator. Located in Atlanta, GA, the company provides turnkey automation solutions to manufacturing companies across the U.S. Our core expertise includes programmable controllers, information systems, safety systems, robotic systems and motion control. We deliver solutions to customers from diverse industries – building products, automotive, metals, food processing, chemicals, and more.

FAS is seeking a Project Engineer with Functional Machine Safety experience. FAS offers safety risk assessments and mitigation services for manufacturing companies. Projects range from single machines to machinery across entire facilities. Machine safety is a high priority for manufacturers, and FAS is providing solutions to meet the increasing need for functional machine safety.

Candidates must have significant experience in automation controls, safety systems, pneumatics and hydraulics. We are looking for a capable, creative and self-motivated professional who wants to grow expertise in safety implementations as a key member of the FAS safety team.

Candidates must have the following qualifications and interests:

· BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer/Software Engineering or a similar discipline

· 4+ years of experience designing, programming and commissioning PLC and VFD systems

· 2+ years of implementing functional machine safety systems

· Experience with hydraulics and pneumatics

· Interest in becoming a subject matter expert or team leader with increasing responsibilities

The following experience or skills are considered a plus for this position:

TUV certification in Functional Machine Safety

Experience with Ethernet/IP and other industrial networks

Maintenance experience with controls, pneumatics and hydraulics
