E-File Tax Manager

We are seeking an experienced E-File Tax Manager to oversee the firm’s electronic tax return filing process and ensure the timely, accurate, and efficient delivery of tax returns to our clients. This position is critical to the success of our tax practice and requires a highly organized professional who thrives in a deadline-driven environment.

Position Summary

The E-File Tax Manager is responsible for managing the firm’s end-to-end tax return e-filing and delivery process. This includes coordinating return processing, overseeing electronic filing through CCH Axcess, managing client document delivery through ShareFile, administering engagement letters, and ensuring tax returns are completed, delivered, and filed accurately and on time.

This position works closely with firm leadership, tax professionals, and administrative staff to maintain efficient workflows and deliver an exceptional client experience throughout the tax season.

Key Responsibilities

· Manage the firm’s electronic filing process for individual, business, fiduciary, and other tax returns using CCH Axcess Tax.

· Review tax returns for filing readiness and ensure all required documentation has been received prior to electronic filing.

· Monitor IRS and state e-file acknowledgments and promptly resolve rejected or failed transmissions.

· Work closely with the Office Assistant to coordinate tax return processing, assembly, delivery, and filing.

· Upload draft and final tax returns securely to client portals using ShareFile.

· Coordinate electronic signature requests and monitor completion of required authorizations.

· Manage the firm’s engagement letter process, including preparation, distribution, tracking, and follow-up to ensure timely execution.

· Ensure all filing deadlines are met while maintaining compliance with firm policies and regulatory requirements.

· Maintain accurate electronic records and filing documentation.

· Communicate proactively with partners, managers, staff, and clients regarding return status, missing information, and filing deadlines.

· Identify workflow improvements that increase efficiency and reduce processing time.

· Assist with workflow management during peak tax seasons and provide support to upper management as needed.

Qualifications Required

· Minimum 5 years of experience in a public accounting firm or tax environment.

· Experience using tax preparation software; experience with CCH Axcess Tax or similar platforms is preferred.

· Experience using Adobe Acrobat to prepare, organize, and manage electronic tax documents.

· Experience working with secure client portals, preferably ShareFile.

· Strong understanding of electronic tax return filing procedures and tax return processing workflows.

· Exceptional organizational and time-management skills.

· Ability to effectively prioritize multiple projects while consistently meeting deadlines.

· Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

· Professional, client-focused demeanor with the ability to interact confidently with clients, partners, managers, and staff.

· Self-motivated, dependable, and proactive with minimal supervision.

· Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

Preferred

· Experience coordinating tax engagement letters and electronic signature workflows.

· Familiarity with workflow management in a public accounting environment.

· Experience supporting multiple partners or tax managers simultaneously.

Work Schedule

The nature of public accounting requires flexibility during busy tax seasons.

Candidates must be available to work:

· Extended weekday hours during peak periods.

· Evenings and weekends during the Spring and Fall tax seasons, as business needs require.
