Full Job Description

Position: Biomedical Equipment Tech

Start: ASAP

Length: Through Mid-September

Client Location: Roseville, CA

Candidate Location: Either Sacramento area or Southern CA

Travel:

There will be weekly travel for the 1st two months (Monday – Thursday is ok)
This person will visit each hospital and go into vital signs monitor to reprogram the new IP address that is pointing to the new server

Intake Call Notes:

Location: This person will travel everywhere (all hospitals) – either out of Sacramento w/ Roseville OR Southern CA area
Monday-Thursday w/ Friday being admin day
Must be comfortable with travel
Will travel every week for 2 months
Comfortable in hospital setting
Need this person to go into vital signs monitor and reprogram the new IP address that is pointing to the new server
Getting the old monitor to talk to the new server
Will likely also test once reprogramming is complete
Must understand what a vital signs monitor does
May be other configurations that are added once this work is completed
700 monitors to be reprogrammed

Job Summary

The Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET) – IT Focus is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and support of biomedical equipment and associated IT systems. This role bridges clinical engineering and information technology, ensuring medical devices are properly integrated, secure, and functioning within the healthcare IT environment.

Key Responsibilities

Perform preventive maintenance, calibration, and repair of biomedical equipment and systems
Install, configure, and support network-connected medical devices
Troubleshoot hardware, software, and connectivity issues related to clinical equipment
Collaborate with IT teams to ensure proper integration with hospital systems (EHR, PACS, etc.)
Maintain accurate service records, documentation, and compliance logs
Ensure devices meet regulatory standards (FDA, Joint Commission, HIPAA, etc.)
Support cybersecurity initiatives for connected medical devices
Assist with equipment upgrades, replacements, and lifecycle planning
Provide technical support and training to clinical staff on equipment use
Participate in on-call rotation for urgent equipment support

Required Qualifications

2+ years of experience in biomedical equipment service or healthcare IT support
Strong knowledge of medical device systems and electronic troubleshooting
Familiarity with networking concepts (TCP/IP, VLANs, wireless connectivity)
Experience with Windows-based systems and basic server/client environments
Understanding of healthcare compliance and safety standards

Preferred Qualifications

Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET) or similar certification
Experience with device integration platforms and HL7 interfaces
Knowledge of cybersecurity practices for medical devices
Experience working in a hospital or clinical environment
Familiarity with asset management systems and CMMS tools
