Full Job Description

Job Description
Self-clearing Broker-Dealer based on Wall Street seeking an experienced Controller/Senior Accountant for their Finance and Regulatory Reporting Dept. This role will aid with the day-to-day processing of general ledger financial transactions, accounts payable & receivable, systems integrations, and regulatory inquiries. Regulatory Reporting functions such as FOCUS, SSOI, Form Custody, and audited financial statements are also part of this job function. Industry knowledge and knowledge of GAAP financial statements preparation is a must.

Responsibilities

Report directly to the CFO.
Manage the month-end close process and identify opportunities for greater efficiency.
Ensure all required books and records documentation and substantiation is obtained and maintained properly.
Communicate with vendors and IT to implement an upgraded general ledger system.
Coordinate with other departments to resolve any issues that arise during the close or other regulatory reporting functions.
Support accounting and reconciliation processes.
Must possess an understanding of trading, operations, and clearance activities (including order routing and venues).

Requirements

10+ years accounting experience at a broker-dealer or outsourced FINOP accounting firm.
Series 27 license preferred

Hands-on knowledge of the following:

Daily Net Capital calc
Daily Securities Lending Haircut calc
Bank reconciliations
State Payroll Inventory Control Report
Regulatory Reporting and Finance Calendar
Weekly Customer Reserve Calc
Liquidity Stress Test
TAF (Trading activity fee for FINRA)
Options Regulatory Fee for FINRA
FOCUS report filing
Balance sheet, Income statement and changes in O/E
Full detailed variance report
ETCB Focus Part II, Form Custody, Supplemental Schedule of Income
SIPC 6 and 7
Annual Audited Financial Statements
Haircuts on ALL Investing Banking deals (IPOs, ATMs, etc).
Trace Reporting
Month-end close
Quarterly box count

Bachelor's Degree and CPA.

Exceptional time management, planning, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently while also collaborating across multiple departments and functions.
Self-sufficient and proactive; willingness to roll up sleeves on all related tasks.
Strong analytical and technical skills with proficiency in MS Office software.
Reliable, flexible, and adaptable to the firm's changing needs and initiatives.
