Full Job Description

Traffic Manager – JFK IAT

We are seeking Traffic Managers for work at JFK International Airport, Terminal 4 (Queens, NY).

Benefits:

Compensation: all work at the airport is compensated at $21.25 per hour
o Plus, an extra $5.55 per hour (for a maximum additional benefit of $222.00 per week!) when you work 50% or more of your time at the airport.
Paid Time Off: sick and safe leave, prenatal leave, vacation time, family leave, and more.
Healthcare: shared-cost medical, prescription, dental and vision benefits and employer-paid life and AD&D insurance and short and long-term disability benefits are available after 90 days of employment.
Retirement: immediate enrollment in a 401(a) plan; a 401(k) plan is available to employees 21 years or older after working six (6) months and 1,000 hours.

*Over the course of employment, Traffic Managers may have the opportunity to perform work non-airport locations, for which work is compensated at a range of $17.00 to $21.00 per hour, commensurate with relevant certifications and experience.

Traffic Manager Job Description:

Understand and apply safe traffic control practices.
Actively manage and ensure the continuous flow of traffic.
Engage in customer service; receive and communicate directions, instructions and other information about activity in the area clearly and courteously.
Manage stressful situations, like addressing uncooperative individuals and attempting to de-escalate conflict or confrontation, while keeping a safe environment and professional attitude and demeanor.
Prevent, report, and coordinate the removal of unauthorized persons or vehicles without escalating conflict or confrontation; report illegal activity, unusual activity, hustler activity, and homeless activity.
Continually monitor traffic and weather conditions and report operational impact.
Maintain free-flowing lanes of traffic where needed.
Keep pedestrian crosswalks clear of stopped or standing vehicles.
Prevent the “staging” of vehicles; direct any stopped or standing vehicle to leave the area.
Uphold the policies and standards of SSPTMS and JFK International Airport, Terminal 4.

Traffic Manager Job Requirements:

You must be punctual and dependable.
You must be able to work outside and in all weather conditions including wind, rain, and snow.
You must be able to stand and walk for as long as your scheduled assignment requires.
Strong communication skills, including but not limited to radio communication skills.
You must have a happy, caring, and positive attitude - customer service is important!
You must be able to manage stressful situations, like addressing uncooperative individuals and attempting to de-escalate conflict or confrontation, while keeping a safe environment and professional attitude and demeanor.
You must complete all credentialing and training requirements for work on this project.
You must have a smartphone with cellular service.
You must be trustworthy and ensure confidentiality when necessary.

Schedule:

OPTION 1: 7am x 3pm, 4 to 5 variable days per week (must include at least 1 weekend day).
OPTION 2: 3pm x 11pm, 4 to 5 variable days per week (must include at least 1 weekend day).
OPTION 3: 11pm x 7am, 4 to 5 variable days per week (must include at least 1 weekend day).

*Schedules are made in accordance with our business needs and the client’s demands. Hours are not guaranteed and are subject to change.

Experience Required:

At least one (1) year of airport/terminal operations knowledge and experience is preferred.
At least one (1) year of flagging, traffic management, airport security, and/or other safety-related experience is preferred.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

NYS Unarmed Security Guard License (Required for Hire)
Sterile/SIDA Badge (Required Within 30 Days)
First Aid/CPR/AED certifications (Required Within 90 Days)
4-hr Flagger, OSHA-30 Construction, and/or SST certifications (Preferred, Not Required)

Uniform:

You must be clean and professional in your appearance, abiding by all uniform and appearance guidelines.
We provide your hat, pin, t-shirt, vest, sweatshirt, winter jacket, raincoat, whistle, radio, lighted baton, and other items for use in extreme weather conditions.
You must provide your own pants and footwear.
