Established in 1981, Radmacher Brothers Excavating Company, Inc. (RBE) is a family-owned and operated heavy highway contractor located in the greater Kansas City area.

RBE has served the infrastructure needs of our state as a top contractor for the Missouri Department of Transportation and all departments of Kansas City, Missouri since the late 1980’s, establishing itself as an industry leader in the heavy highway market. RBE and its subsidiaries are based just outside of Kansas City in Pleasant Hill, MO. Our resources are positioned to service projects in Missouri and Kansas.

We specialize in design-build and bid-build projects in the following areas:

Job Description:

The Quality Control Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the company-wide Quality Control (QC) program for RBE and its affiliated rock quarry. This role ensures all materials, testing procedures, and construction processes meet or exceed company standards, project specifications, and regulatory requirements while ensuring consistent product performance across all projects and material sources.

Review, revise, and continuously improve the company-wide Quality Control program
Develop and implement standardized quality procedures across all projects and facilities
Ensure compliance with DOT, federal, state and local specifications, project requirements, and industry standards
Refine and enhance documentation procedures, reporting systems, and audit processes for QC activities
Oversee all field and laboratory testing operations related to aggregates, soils, concrete, and other construction materials
Ensure proper sampling, testing, and documentation procedures are followed
Maintain calibration, certification, and compliance of testing equipment
Oversee quality control and testing at the company’s aggregate quarry by monitoring production to ensure materials meet required gradation, durability, and specification standards
Coordinate with quarry operations personnel to address quality issues and optimize material consistency
Maintain documentation and testing records for aggregate production
Work closely with project managers, superintendents, and operations teams to ensure quality requirements are met on all projects
Assist with pre-construction planning related to material quality and testing needs
Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting for quality-related issues during construction
Support preparation for external audits and agency inspections
Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

5+ years of experience in quality control, material testing, and management in heavy highway construction
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, materials engineering, or a related field preferred. Equivalent combinations of relevant education, certifications, and significant industry experience in heavy highway construction quality control may be considered in place of a four-year degree
Expert knowledge with DOT specifications and testing requirements required
Experience with aggregate, soil, and concrete testing required
Experience managing a QC program and overseeing other technicians preferred
Proficiency with standard business and communication software, including Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Teams, and other computer-based systems used for documentation, reporting, scheduling, and communication
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without requiring future sponsorship for employment visa status
